* Ignore the football icon in the thread title. Can't update that because you can't unselect a radio button.

That data is already 4 years old. Not saying it wouldn't change much, but I wonder how much has changed for all conferences.

Too bad money from 2021 can’t buy wins in 2023. SB 24-13 this year, AAC 18-22.

Sounds about right to me. In 2021 that would have been $2.8 million for each SBC school and $7.8 million for each AAC school.

CUSA in 2021 was $37.4 million or $2.7 million per school.

May be true but also one of the main reasons their teams make it to the P5 when prior to this year with the MWC, nobody else does. May not be a factor in a year or two but long term, budget definitely makes a difference.

But but but I can already hear AAC trying to find a way to prove that their strength of schedule is way more difficult or they scheduled less FCS teams. Or they can try to say our head to heads were matched up from our top teams vs their bottom teams. Not the case with Tulane though they matched up with 1 of our top teams so their only valid argument could be that they might be a little stronger at top in that their top 2 teams might edge out or top 2 teams.

Top to bottom no way is AAC stronger than SBC. Bottom dwellers from last season (TXST, ULM ODU, GSU, GS and App) have all shown way more signs of life this season than the AAC from mid pack to bottom.

Sorry, my bad. Maybe Freudian slip wishing Tigers were in the ACC. LOL
Good luck for the remainder of the season to Sunbelt Teams.

First, your conference is the AAC, not the ACC. Second, I know that’s not based on the teams currently in either conference. For example, Marshall, who is 6-2 all time against Memphis, is 50-32 against current AAC members. We only have a losing record against ECU and Tulsa out of your 14 members.

If you just want to go since the 2013 realignment, we are 21-9 against your current members.

Ya know, at least when people bag on us about what we did “100 years ago,” at least it was, in fact, what we did. Bragging on past accomplishments of one’s departed conference mates is just kinda sad.

If we are playing that game, USM has 91 wins combined vs just Tulane, Memphis and ECU.

The graph’s data is interesting only from a historical point of view.

The AAC’s income in 2024 (and beyond) is only going to regress with the loss of 4 schools (I’m including SMU to the ACC, plus 3 to the Big 12), while the SBC’s income is rising. Competitively, in 2023 the SBC has already equaled (if not surpassed) the AAC in FB, and this will translate to stronger attendance and media attention/dollars. From where I’m sitting, the SBC is a strong “buy” and the AAC is a definite “sell”…the trends are clear to anybody not prone to a bias that skews their perspective.

I think Power Conference schools should show their commitment to "equity" and give up half their massive media rights disbursements to help the G5 build up their athletics departments.

RE: Athletic Department Earned Revenue
FYI - This isn't "conference revenue" this is the earned revenue for the schools that make up the conference. So in addition to conference distributions it would include ticket sales, contributions, etc. Probably just took total revenue and subtracted student fees/school funds and called the rest "earned". So for example if you took UNT who was one of the higher budgeted teams that the AAC took tacked on an additional 2.5M in conference revenue they still wouldn't out earn USM (the lowest budgeted team in CUSA) the last year they were in CUSA and received no conference distributions. Most of the legacy AAC members do much better.
