RE: Injury Thread
Fast, good tackling linebackers can slow down the short passing game. I think we could see 3 of them on the field at the same time.

Sucks that he got hurt on a needless play.

And by friendly fire. Wouldn’t call it needless though, I give a LT credit for pursuing the guy that picked off a pass all the way to the opposite sideline.

Really stinks that the starting LT and RT are now toast for the season. Silver lining is another person gets more experience when we are eligible next year.

i was referring more to the play/series that was a disaster than his effort.

I saw no drop-off in OL play in the 2nd half last week against ODU. And with a full week of prep and practice I think the OL will be fine.

There is no significant loss in size moving forward.

We are very deep at OL. In Wrobo we trust.

RE: Injury Thread
Run blocking looked better in second half against ODU, but pass protection was not as good IMO. Toner missed a blitz on the big sack of JM in 4th quarter when we were in plus territory. Going back and looking at film it appears that McCloud should have moved his protection based on how ODU was lined up (Cig referenced protection call issues in postgame), but Toner had a shot to at least chip the blitzer and whiffed and McCloud had no chance.

Overall in rewatching I am not sure we miss too much, but there was a reason why Wyatt was starting.

Any word on Green? The loss of our Offensive Tackles was a big blow but we have O line depth. D line not so much. This would be a devastating blow especially to the young Man and his next level future.

Someone now gets a chance to insert themselves squarely into the DL conversation for next year. I'd expect Tucker to get a lot more reps now and pushing Kromah out to DE more regularly.

So painful.

His draft stock was really rising too. While it is certainly painful for the team, I feel even more for him if this impacts his ability to get drafted.

Wonder if this is in preparation for the draft. His stock is about as high as it could get and why risk injuring it further.

RE: Injury Thread
Too many season ending injuries this year and the last 3 games JMU will not be playing with a full deck in addition to still having a mostly FCS roster that lacks depth.
It will take Cig’s best coaching job to win out with backups at key positions

Van Horse KR/PR and leading RB receiver
Okonji DE
Kidwell OT all conference.
Wyatt OT
Green DE. Leading the nation in sacks

You can say next man up all you want, however the quality has dropped with each of these season ending injuries. You can’t expect 100% health in football, but 5 season ending injuries is on the bad luck side of the equation.
Losing 4 of them in the trenches is brutal since that is where games are won.

Hopefully that means JMU is on the good luck side of the equation next year when the the 12 team CFP starts.

Tucker and Bush and maybe even Robell getting more reps inside with Kromah and Kamara getting most of the reps outside. Surprised they didn't move Jordan Funk back from TE to DE when the injuries started mounting.
