How strong is the SB?
Well, strong enough that just playing Marshall and App (and losing) has moved ECU into the top 90 in the Massey Composite.
SBC now has 9 teams in the top 90 and the AAC has 5. For the week the SBC was an aggregate +30 and the AAC an aggregate -27 positions. Three of the top 4 Belt teams up, 3 of the top 4 AAC down.
Seems like we need to quick looking at the AAC and focus on the MWC as our biggest threat.

MWC *may* be a threat if they add OSU/WSU.
How that shakes out will play a role. There's still a possible crack in the door that OSU/WSU rebuild the PAC, and poach from MWC/AAC after regaining voting control of PAC. How quick that court case gets resolved could play a factor.

I agree, and the data backs this up. The American is dead if SMU and Memphis lose their P5 matchups this weekend. Tulane has no chance at the NY6, as they've already lost their lone P5 matchup.
The MWC has the current frontrunner Fresno State. They are undefeated, and have already beaten two P5's on the road.

They are already a threat, and are the current favorites to land the NY6.
Marshall HAS to beat Virginia Tech and probably NC State, or hopefully Georgia State can somehow run the gauntlet and beat LSU.

Pretty strong top to bottom, but we really need one or two teams to really step up and dominate the G5. We don't have a UCF, Boise, or Cincinnati (speaking historically about these programs).

It’s the P12 problem. A lot of really good teams that cannibalize each other.

Hats off to you guys over here. Without a doubt, y’all are the top G5 conference and have been hands down. My Runners are obviously struggling right now and are without a doubt, out of a NY6 run. I’d say it’s gonna come down to one of y’all’s teams, Wyoming, or Tulane. Things can change but that’s how I see it now. And boy am I looking forward to that App State/Wyoming game next weekend. That’s gonna be a doozy!

I was really surprised by UTSA this year. I was really impressed with your head coach and your recruiting. You guys seemed to have ticked all boxes to be the next big G5 program. A bit underwhelmed so far.

Yea, expectations were high but oh well. Still early and anything can happen. I’m going with the floor (8-4) could very well be a reality. What about u guys? Did y’all have a lot of people returning from last year?

We lost some really key players on defense, and we're not as good last year, but it's still a championship caliber defense. Offense was supposed to be better this year, but that hasn't been the case. We will continue to struggle versus good defenses.

It seems like longer, but it's only been a little over 10 years since UTSA, South, ODU and Georgia St started their football programs. USA and UTSA met twice in those early years, us taking the first match in double OT in San Antonio and you returning the favor the following year in Mobile by two points. It's about time we met again to...figure this out.

I would love to see more AAC and SBC bowl pairings. That would be awesome for each conference and be must see college football on national TV. App State vs Tulane, Marshall vs Memphis, Coastal Carolina vs Navy, Southern Miss and ECU, etc etc :)
