My problem with them came in 2017 when we played them in a bowl game, and their entire home board thought it was so beneath them to be playing a SBC team. We beat them 50-30 and their board was molten lava. We beat a ranked LSU and won the SBC that year, but losing to Troy was unforgivable to North Texas fans.
It's just a facade North Texas fans show.
They went from SBC, to CUSA, to AAC, and they want to be able to show that they have some sort of worth in all of it... when in reality they've had very little athletic success and have been riding the coat tails of everyone they've been associated with.
I think that Georgia Southern, Marshall, and Southern Miss fanbases are more arrogant fanbases.
I can see how you might feel that way, and that's fair.
But at least those three schools have some success and/or deep history to point to in their arrogance. UNT folks are arrogant while having accomplished next to nothing.
The problem with those fanbases is that they stay in the pass. They love to bring up there glory days but if you roll back the past 5 years then they bring out the personal attacks.
App St fans don't say in the pass because what they have done recently.
Where does relevant recent history end and "the past" begin? In my experience it depends on what's needed for a narrative at a time. Your team went 5-6 last season the first season in a real conference and looks to be heading for another rough season and you want people to act like Kennesaw should be at the front of the line for a Sun Belt expansion rather than someone like WKU or Liberty or even Jax State.

Whatever is needed to win the argument. In greater societal discussions, people usually assign a cut-off at whatever point of convenience, or ignorance, occurs. They ignore 500,000 years or more of human history for 50 years of it. In football years, that's arguing that something is trend after one season out of say fifteen years of excellence. Sort of like App going 6-6 last year, largely due to injuries to key positions while not having ideal depth or experience to back them up. Now people talk like App has been gone for three or four years.

Sounds like SOME of Your fans may have an inferiority/superiority complex at the same time. (j/k)

That is not what I am talking about. GS fans aways bring up what they did in the pass.

They're passing all over the place now.
But in the past they have done pretty well too, with P5 and Top #25 wins in the last couple years.

WKU has had great success with the pass. Doughty, White, Zappe, Reed. All have been National passing yardage or TD leaders during their time at WKU.
Oh...
You meant past.
