Broncos with over 500 yards of offense, and 10 of 17 third down conversions! When was the last time we saw those kind of numbers?

While those stats are nice, remember that Toledo will not have an FCS caliber defense. Neither will any other MAC team.

It's easy to become giddy after playing down a division but we really don't learn alot from these games. How we play against FBS teams remains to be seen and the next couple will be much tougher.

Still, a W we were counting on is still a W. Congrats to coach Taylor. First of hopefully many wins.

Mr. Whinny is also lovin' the faster game pace. Very smart strategy when it comes to MAC opponents trying to adjust to a new coaching staff's game plan. Very little time for the enemy defense to evaluate and anticipate.

PJ lost to a worse Nicholls St team year one…. And also remember this is a St Francis team picked to win their conf again this year. They are an older team too…. Veteran. Not saying as good as a Toledo by any means but outside of a few mis-steps in the secondary we absolutely dominated them.

Not trying to diminish St. Francis at all. Obviously a well coached team that made some good adjustments. What made me happy is that we adjusted to their adjustments.

This was a much better team than Nicholls St. Lance doesn't believe that he has to burn it all to the ground to build his program, like Fleck did, either.

Of course, the portal changes everything and we seemed to have gotten some help there.

Hey, MileHigh - Don't discount St. Francis just because they're an FCS school. (Isn't that like the G-Pop discounting the Broncos for being a "directional school?") The Red Flame was/(were?) league champions last year, and their QB is highly touted.

I reserve the right to feel giddy. I saw more hopeful signs for the Broncos last night than I have in many years.

St Francis graduated its 6 All NEC Defense Players from 2022.

Yeah, and although I'm sure they'll be in the running for the conf championship -- they won't be as good as last year (they only had 1 FCS loss regular season last year).

We can't expect to dominate drives by running it almost every time. Even then, they held our run reasonably. They just couldn't stop us. Throw in a .500 MAC team, that way about our O won't work. And expect our D to obviously not have it as 'easy' against most the teams we play this season.

It's going to be a totally different game conceptually against @Syracuse, Toledo, & @Iowa. Can we play Syracuse competitively? Can we have a close game against Toledo? Can we not get blown out too much by Iowa?

I really hope our HC/OC/DC bears all this in mind and isn't going to plan on our O operating the same exact way.

True, BocaRocket, St. Francis had graduation losses. But don't forget that the Broncos lost 9 of 11 defensive starters from last year's team.

I was happy with our pace. Play calling was a bit vanilla but probably by design.
