Bradley scored late to take the lead 2-1 and hung on to beat the Cougars in Chicago Thursday night.

Next up for the Cougars is a road game at Milwaukee August 27.

That late goal was a killer against Bradley.

Caught the stream of today’s match with Milwaukee. Man, what a comeback by the Cougars to win it 3-2! They end up scoring three goals in a matter of 10 minutes.

Saw the box score. Impressive!

RE: Men’s Soccer season thread
Next up for CSU are UAB and Belmont in the UAB Tournament. Those two teams actually played earlier and tied, so we know their level of play is similar. The other team in the tourney is Houston Christian, who is picked 3rd in the Ohio Valley Conference, with 4 first place votes.

Seeing how HCU does against both UAB and Belmont will give a good indication of how Chicago may fare in the OVC this season.

RE: Men’s Soccer season thread
Men’s soccer won their first game of the UAB tournament, defeating the hosts in a 3-2, come from behind win. The Cougars were down by a goal when they evened things up in the 75th minute. In the 88th minute Florian Ouaddour, a Senior from Eaubonne, France scored and sealed the win for the Cougars.

Chicago State outshot UAB 22-11.

After the victory over an American Athletic Conference opponent, the 2-1 squad will go for a victory over a Missouri Valley Conference foe when they face Belmont in the second game of the tourney.

Given all the problems this program has faced in the last couple of years, it feels good to have winning records in any of the sports.

RE: Men’s Soccer season thread
Getting out with a win and a tie is excellent.

The 4th team in the tourney was Houston Christian, who was picked near the top of the OVC. They scored the end of the game and tied with UAB. Chicago State beat UAB yesterday. Looks like the Cougars could easily finish higher than they were picked in the league.

None of the teams in this tournament are really very good, but then again, neither is a vast majority of the OVC.

First league game is at Liberty, who is picked first. A surprise win there could set Chicago State up nicely for the league race.

Omaha beat CSU men soccer 7-0. That’s a really bad loss. Don’t know anything about Omaha soccer, but a 7-0 loss is terrible. Hopefully it’s an anomaly.

Cougars now 2-2-1.

Yeah, that one was tough to watch. Seemed like a totally different team. Like you said, hopefully it’s a one and done.. and get back on track.

Men lost to Purdue Fort Wayne 1-0. Even though this was a loss, I’d consider it a bounce back from that terrible loss.

Now 2-3-1. Up next is St Thomas U, 0-3-1.

If 2020-21 was the season that men's soccer started, then we have already tied the record for wins in a season.

Overall, not a bad loss at Fort Wayne. A rebound against St Thomas would be great.

St Thomas is winless and hasn’t played since September 4.

RE: Men’s Soccer season thread
As conference season starts, this might help some fans to see where CSU stands.

Also, if you click around Massey a little you learn a lot more information, like Chicagos schedule and where each team they’ve played ranks. For example, we got a tie versus Belmont, whose record didn’t look great, but is actually ranked in the top 100. Without getting into the details of computer rankings, in sports a person may not follow closely, they are a pretty useful gauge.

Thankfully, the Liberty game is almost over. In the closing minutes it’s 7-1. Hopefully the Cougars move on from this and can pick up some OVC wins.

Liberty and SIUE are the highest rated teams. The rest of the others are more in Chicagos range, including some lower.

Final was 7-1 for Liberty. They are just a much, much better team. Chicago State was outshot 20-6.

Men lost again to UIW. They haven’t won in a long time now.

Men are up 2-0 on Liberty, who were 7-2 going into the game. I like it!
