Dr. George Koob, Director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) told the Daily Mail that the USDA could revise its alcohol recommendations to match Canada’s guidelines which recommends residents limit their alcohol consumption to two drinks per week.

Currently, the US Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend that men limit themselves to two drinks per day and that women limit themselves to one drink per day, but the guidelines are currently up for review and are expected to be published in 2025.

Koob told the outlet, “If there’s health benefits, I think people will start to re-evaluate where we’re at [in the US]. So, if [alcohol consumption guidelines] go in any direction, it would be toward Canada.”

Koob added, “Most of the benefits people attribute to alcohol, we feel they really have more to do with what someone’s eating rather than what they’re drinking. So it really has to do with the Mediterranean diet, socio-economic status, that makes you able to afford that kind of diet and make your own fresh food and so forth.”

According to The New York Post, experts claim that a Mediterranean diet which is high in fats and proteins, but low in carbohydrates, protects against inflammation and heart disease.

The comments come as recent reports have circulated that Americans' alcohol consumption has spiked dramatically.

What have we learned in the past couple of weeks? Well, they want to monkey with our ceiling fans so we can all save about $16.50 year. We also learned they may be looking at making small flights unavailable to the little people. We learned that they are looking at meddling in our refrigerators and how many cans or bottles of beer we can have at the gameday tailgate. Great.


We also learned that our Gov't can't actually DO what their only one true charge is supposed to be, keeping the people and communities safe in their homes. Children literally melted into sidewalks and turned to ash.

Why don't you incompetent clock punchers work on that stuff, leave the beer and Chardonnay drinking to the rest of us normal people out here. You almost lost your cat. GFY

Think about how many drug addict felons we would have in this country if the government tried to control all drugs that Americans chooses to put in their bodies with laws....

Now think about how much less crime it would be if a person could walk into any store and spend $15 to $20 to get their drug high for that day. Like the "normal" addicts do.
