RE: AAC Football season predictions, per ESPN analytics
The prediction seems reasonable to me, at least, as far as FAU is concerned. Now that we actually have a P5-starter type of a QB I feel more optimistic.

Personally, I have no faith in Memphis winning 10 games, despite their relatively easy schedule.

We'll see. On the positive side, it would be nice to see 8 teams go bowling.

I share your sentiments...........all of them expressed here.

My hat is ready for the roster oven as well. I say we go 6-6.

Warner is legit and is only going to get better. I trust Vegas more than this Sideline Sports projection. Temple bowling this year would not shock me.

This is NOT a Sidelines Sports projection. It is ESPN's data. Period.

Sideline Sports simply put it in a tweet.

ESPN does this every year for every CFB game, and updates it as their analytics change with games played.

The projected individual percentages are shown for every game scheduled, from now to the end of the season, for anybody to read. They are called ESPN Match Predictors. You can see them by clicking on the schedule line for any game, usually where the game time is located.

I have followed these for years. Sometimes they are better than the betting odds, sometimes not. Most of the time, they are close.

I used them exclusively to predict winners in some of those pick'em contests, and so far I've won 2 seasons, and have been ranked high in most of the others.

And just like betting odds, they tend to get more accurate the closer they get to the game date. JMO.

Also, just because a team is favored in X # of games does not mean they are actually projected to win all those games. Dig into KenPom's numbers sometimes. But now we're getting more sophisticated than an analytic like this tends to be.

Pretty tight race predicted there.

For SMU to host MEMPHIS in the AAC Championship Game on Dec. 2 then ALL of these games must turn out this way:
10/13 - Tulane loses at MEMPHIS on ESPN Friday night game; this is the Waves only loss in conference
11/18 - SMU beats MEMPHIS on (predicted) ESPN2 Sat game; this is the TIGERS only loss in conference
11/25 - Tulane beats UTSA on (predicted) ESPN Sat game; this is the Roadrunners only loss in conference on the final game of the regular season. I further believe the AAC would have this game played at night so both teams know how MEMPHIS fared at Temple in the earlier day game.

MEMPHIS, Tulane and UTSA finish tied for second so the head to head competition is examined first. MEMPHIS beat Tulane and Tulane beat UTSA. MEMPHIS and UTSA did not play in the regular season. MEMPHIS has a better overall record than UTSA. MEMPHIS plays in the AACCG.

SMU is the only undefeated AAC team and will host MEMPHIS in the AAC Championship Game on Dec. 2.

Just hoping it turns out this way^^^. Added sweetener would be winning at OU or TCU or both.

Interesting. Anyone know what the ESPN Analytics projected last year for the AAC? Btw, 9-3 is actually also what I predicted for UTSA this season.

So, does an 11-2 conference champ go to the NY6 Bowl over a 12-1 champ from one of the other conferences? Strength of schedule will certainly play a part.

It depends which of the two schools is higher ranked in the final weekly CFP poll. As you noted, that is where SOS would come into play.

ECU looks about right given all they are replacing. 7-5 to 5-7 is a pretty good range.

Don't understand all the Memphis hype. Aren't people getting tired of being wrong about them yet?

SMU's 10-2 could come down to ECU being either 6-6 or 7-5.

Tulane gotta prove they can sustain.
