They don't have most recruits even rated right now for whatever reason. Doesn't mean much at this point and with NIL, it's losing its value

Dang 52 new players in this class between high school kids and transfers. Those coaches earned their money. Looks like y'all got some quality guys too. The QB from Auburn and the big 379lb OL from Oklahoma to name a couple.

For ODU I still don't really pay much attention to that website. They only have 12 of our 30 ranked at all. Just nobody paying much attention to it. The guy that covers us is a VT guy so it's peripheral. I know Monarchist has had to email them several times to even keep it updated. But, if we ever land a 5* I'm sure we'll be talking about how awesome it is. =]

Recruiting ratings are useless at our level for the most part. For JMU we are not on 247 and have no one ranking our recruits and pumping them, but we will still take most of the SBC's lunch money again this fall with FCS no stars.

From what I've read about Southern Miss's 2023 class in the preseason, I'm very pleased with the class at this point.

10 of the 11 juco (3) and portal (8) transfers are in the 2 deep and the other will play a lot on special teams.

As many as 8 true frosh could see a decent amount of playing time, but I'm hoping most of them will be able to get the redshirt due to the depth and experience that this team has.

We don't have a 247 site with beat writers like a lot of schools. My point is with 3 stars it is still a crap shoot and if anyone thinks that JMU will have the 14th ranked class in reality when all is said and done for 2023 they are nuts.

^ totally agree....i wonder if we can email a few people to get that beat writer hooked in?

JMU definitely has a history of doing more with less....assume we are the 14th class at your own demise : )

He initially gave us a lot of love but then when he realized people weren't going to subscribe there hasn't been a lot of activity

If you had a message board with paying subscribers Evan Watkins would kiss your ass and get every player ranked. He was much better to us at first, trying to woo us to the platform but not so much now.

We know how good JMU is. These rankings don't mean anything anymore. They are heavily skewed by quantity, and if you can sign 50+ players in a single class, you'll be at or near the top.

Also note, the star averages don't mean much either because players without ratings don't factor into the average, but they do factor into the total points number.

Keep in mind the 247 rankings is a composite, meaning several ranking systems have to have rated the player in order for his composite total to show up for the 247 class ranking. Sometimes it’s not as simple as “we don’t have a 247 writer” if neither Rivals nor ESPN, etc have rated the player.

72 new players total. 52 scholarship plus 20 walk ons. Many of which were PWO or FBS transfer walk on.
