The baseball field has lights and we put in lights at the softball field last week.

I think we get more than 62 people in there, too. Lot of excitement from fans. If we win a few could get real interesting.

Bout time... Seriously after I'm done picking on you, the stadium looks nice.. Can't wait to see it completed.

Any game after noon, outfield looking right into the sun. That will be brutal with the sun on the horizon early spring. The football stadium shows the east-west orientation with west being the pressbox side. Home plate of the field looks to point slightly south of west which is right on the sun. Is that normal? I mean I guess they don't want fans unable to see the game due to the sun, but fly balls could be a nightmare in an afternoon game.

The thing with turf is it cuts down drastically on field maintenance costs. And, if you don't have a full time grounds crew, the players and coaches are tasked with having to maintain field upkeep.

Add to that fewer rainouts and it's a pretty easy choice (although in a perfect world, I prefer grass.)

Also have to remember we are the most northern team in the conference. Our weather is much harder on us during that time of year. The turf should help in multiple ways for us.

We tend to get lots of rain in the early spring. Sometimes some snow (once or twice), but no snow at all last spring.

Is that a new IPF behind the first base line?

Baseball Stadium looks fantastic. As nice or nicer than many minor league baseball venues. Congrats Herd fans!

It's not brand new. Think we've had it 8-9 years now.

Might be the beach volleyball they were reported to be building. Trying to make that side of the street an athletic complex. Looks about the right size.

That's the new baseball and softball operations building. Indoor batting cages, pitching mounds, etc I believe

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe the one between the baseball and softball fields will be used by softball, Baseball's will be on the other side of left field. At least that is what I was told.

Correct. That is softballs own specific facility.

Baseball gets their own private facility on the other side.

Large area past the outfield will be new track & field, and grass practice soccer pitch for starters.

As mentioned, softball is getting their own dedicated office and indoor practice facility, which is the new steel framing between the baseball and softball fields.

The baseball offices and indoor practice facility will be located beyond the new baseball field's left field wall.

For those that have t been here: the IPF is to the left of the football stadium (white building, dark green roof). The two brick buildings in front of that - on the right is the weight room facility and on the left, attached to the IPF, is the sports medicine/HOF facility.

If you come to a game here you should walk over to the IPF and go between those two brick buildings. There’s a really cool bronze statue of a herd of Buffalo (if you like taking pictures of stadiums you visit, this and a pic on the west side where the memorial to the 75 is located are the two you want) and go in the door behind them and look around the HOF, some cool stuff in there.

I continue to be elated over Marshall's commitment to having a solid baseball facility. Recruiting still won't be easy, as is the case in many cold weather climates....but it's surely a giant step.
