Agree. UAB medicine is one of the great research med schools in the US. The the university’s research profile as a whole is legit. Even more so than Bama’s.

It is Bama
That is the point.
07-coffee3

No, it's not.

Its not University of Alabama at Auburn.

Its not the University of Alabama at University of South Alabama in Mobile.

Obviously the privates have the highest endowments. Then again, they don't have state support and have the lowest FB attendance. So all of this is give and take. Another point, UCF has one of the smallest endowments, but they are on their way to the 12. So take this with a grain of salt.

Of note: USF, Temple and UAB are the top three state schools (impressive), with ECU sitting at #4. I've also seen a couple of numbers for UNT, but $211 is what AAC reports.

Rice $6.3b
SMU $2b
Tulane $1.4b
Tulsa $1.1b

USF $889m
Temple $873m
UAB $712m
ECU $377m (will hit $400m this year based on ongoing capital campaign)
Charlotte $314m
FAU $285m
UTSA $277m
WSU $276m
UNT $211m (or $291m)
Memphis $223

You mean I can make a $250 gift & double the Memphis endowment?

Multiple pages in and no one has released the secret of how you can double your endowment for $250 .. my wife would really like me to find out.

Why does it matter how much of the endowment is not medical? How much of my own school's endowment is not associated with the school of engineering? You express your dismay at being in the same conference with UAB like Tulane is some sort of football powerhouse. Like most message board posters, I think you need a reality check.

By the way per the National Science Foundation Rankings -

R&D Expenditures -
#44 UAB
#119 Tulane

Earned Doctorates -
#113 UAB
#128 Tulane

UAB is synonymous w/ its medical program outside of the state to any science professional, and nothing wrong with that. It is quite reputable.

Those lists are a dime a dozen dude. I read the WSJ rankings just yesterday and they had us higher than Bama and AU only about 20 places higher.
