I dont remember a year where both semifinals were that intense at the end. It seemed like Washington was trying to lose at the end there, and then Texas threw 4 uncatchable balls on the last four plays into the endzone lol

One that note... Here's highlights from my favorite Michael Penix game.
We got lucky they had so many turnovers. Could have easily lost that game. Those highlights filled with NFL guys...Ridder, Ford, Pierce, Tucker, Beavers...we had no idea how loaded that team was.

Didn't know the clock stopped permanently for injury. Thought once they cleared the player from field, game clock and play clock would restart. That RB would have gotten roasted if they lost.
Michigan and Washington have to be SO grateful that Alabama completed the Hail Mary against Auburn. Otherwise we would have had Georgia instead of Alabama (they still would have left Florida State out) and Georgia would be winning another title.

Yep almost certainly.
Who do you like in the Michigan vs Washington game?
I could see the game going either way.
I have friends that went to Michigan so for that reason would't mind Michigan but Washington winning it all would be a great story.

I also recalled thinking that day that Deshawn Pace was going to be a future great for us. Just never got to the level unfortunately.

If ever there was a guy who needed a locker room mentor from Day 1 to his graduation date, he's the guy. Played the best he ever did when he had Dublanko and Beavers in the room keeping in him check.

Maybe, but Michigan is #1 in FPI and SP+. I think they are best team in nation and statistics back it up.

I'm buying what Michigan is selling. I didn't think that way before the Bama game. Their schedule was suspect but in hindsight they were consistently blowing out teams. The one thing Michigan has lacked over the years is SEC-esque team speed and athleticism - especially along the DL/OL and a top flight QB. They have all of that now and a motivated coach to give the NCAA a middle finger. Trust me, I'm no fan of the Sign Stealer in Black Rimmed Glasses but I'll give credit when credit is due.

I'm neither a MI or B10 fan, but they held their own against 'Bama and delivered in the clutch so they deserve a spot in the title game.
I'm also hard pressed to pick a winner. I just don't see those Pac 12 teams play enough all season to get any idea of their relative competitiveness. Certainly their record is impressive and we've witnessed Pac 12 champs take it to the B10 in past Rose Bowls so it could happen again in the CFP.
Shifting topics, has there been anything official yet on a Pac 2 alliance with the MWC? Obviously they had no other viable alternative but I do wonder what becomes of all those Pac 12 bowl affiliations in 2024 and if our Big 12 will be the beneficiary of that change.

I'm not sold on their QB but he's growing on me.
For those who remember Harbaugh in college and the pros or have watched tape and read up, he seems like a carbon copy. Wins because he stays VERY strictly inside of the gameplan and doesn't make the game breaking mistakes...I do think part of the eye-test issues with McCarthy is the offense he plays in, it certainly isn't meant to show off the QB. He's one who I think will be a better pro than college player.
I don't know about the Pros but my eye test tells me he doesn't turn the ball over and makes the throws that sustain drives and helps the team win. Last season he threw 22 TD and 5 INT. This year about the same - 22 TD and 4 INT. That's 44 TD against 9 INT. Damn good ratio. He also has a 73.2 completion percentage this year. That percentage is higher than Baker Mayfield's best years at Oklahoma. Before people freak out, I'm not making a direct comparison as Bake threw a ton more TD passes. McCarthy fits what Michigan wants to do perfectly and you add that to their current talent mix and why they have a shot at a natty.

There is not much pressure on the guy. Michigan's run attack is unparalleled so when he throws its on a D that is setup to stop the run most of the time. He melted down against TCU last year with two pick 6's. And the start of the Bama game was another bad pick that he got away with due to penalty. He looked ok rest of game. Washington will have to sell out to stop the run, so he will have to exploit that to win IMO.

TBC, I stated he was a top flight QB - not all-world - and it was his play among other things as to why Michigan is for real. Since you brought it up...
