I got a video card (fo' free, even) today that has one of those TV out gadgets on it. Getting it connected to a TV is defnitely on my to-do list.

EDIT - PTNC, I fixed the typo in the thread title.

So, what do you do in the event of hurricane? It's not like you can go inland to escape it.

St. Thomas is absolutely beautiful but it is a third world country in many aspects. I tip my hat to the younger folks who move here straight out of college and do odd jobs while enjoying the sun and water.
My wife and I are very fortunate in that we can insulate ourselves from many of the usual hardships of living on this Island. It is all about trade off's. We have a KMart and the equivalent of a Sam's Club but for a lot of items you need to either order on-line or travel to the mainland. The accesibility of our airport is awesome. I can be in Greenville in 5hrs which makes it nice for traveling home to ECU games or to see my family.

To live here you really have to have an adventerous spirit and be willing to sacrifice and most importantly have tons of patience. The locals are great but they are not changing for anybody. I know when I leave here in a couple a years that I will have lots of fond memories and will have experienced things that most folks will never have the opportunity to do and for that I am grateful.

For Graybeard,
I have been lucky in that our last two Hurricane seasons have been uneventfull but if the big one comes my wife and I will probably stay here based on her responsibilities with two resorts. Our house is built like a bunker with 12 inch concrete walls. It is 60yrs old and survived two Category 4 Hurricanes in Hugo and Marilyn. The part that scares me is after Hurricane Marilyne it took about 4 months to restore power to the entire Island. In that event we would move into the one of the property's that my wife runs and work through it.
My family worries about me but my dad in Fl has had three Hurricane eyes pass over his house in the last two years while we have had nothing (knock on wood)
Bottom line the USVI and the British Virgin Islands next door are an amazing place to visit. If any Pirates are headed this way I would be delighted to help with any planning and give them the local tour of my favorite watering holes and snorkel spots.

We were able to basically shut everyone on Memphis down except for Carney. I started to become violently ill, every time he touched the ball.

Memphis just works the ball around the court quick, and the matchup zone was just a little slow in catching up.
