Tulsa on the other hand was one of the top 10-20 programs in the nation about that same time. My point is things can change very quickly. Look no farther than that example. Tulsa has tradition and it happened to them. You guys sure didn't dominate the world last year either in Hoops. Look at your football. You were a bottom feeder for 30 years and you just have gotten it together in the last 3. Cut everyone some slack, the fact many coaches are so new shows programs are trying to better themselves.

If the league sucks so bad then schedule Kentucky and Kansas in the OOC, no matter how you do you can run the table and have an easiy bid to the dance every year. Calipari and Memphis fans can b**** and moan about the league but quitley everyone of you are thinking your going to the NCAA every year in this league because you just believe you will run through and get the automatic bid. So what are you complaining about?? UNLV was a power in a so so league, I didn't slow UMass down, and look at Gonzaga now.

First, do NOT lump all Memphis fans together.

Second, this post is all sidetracking. I don't see ONLY Memphis fans complaining. Really not even complaining, just noting the work we all need to do.

Third ... I noticed UAB, UTEP, Marshall and other fans agreeing with what Cal said --- why not jump on them too with a holier than thou rant?

Fourth --- What is there that Cal said that is so inflammatory? Read Third on other fans in agreement.

Fifth --- even ECU folks have to note it is disappointing to be ranked several notches below the CAA. Especially since ECU lobbied so hard to be added to CUSA for all sports. I wish I had a nickel for every post from OTM ripping us CUSA fans for that football-only membership that the Pirates had the first 4 years or so.

Unfortunately, that now seems to be the case.

congratulations, you've now ruined a good conference.

Oh wait, you'll be the BCS busters next year right?

Like I said before, y'all are just prearranging your scapegoats for when your team flops in the NCAAs. Excuses always satisfy those that make 'em.

Its ashame we could not have kept Charlotte and St. Louis. Memphis is going to have to carry the mail for us until we can get a couple more programs some national respect. It seems to me that the void in CUSA will be filled by someone. Prehaps in a couple of years the league will look a little better. In the meantime, baseball is right around the corner and CUSA will be back on the good foot.

Well, Charlotte and St. Louis brought nothing to the table. If you can't play all of the major sports, stay out of the league.

And sure, we'll be on a good foot, but no one will be watching to see the conference stand.

Honestly, I don't give a $hit what Calipari, or any Memphis fans think but the way the city of Memphis supports the tigers even to the detriment of BCS schools is enviable. We need that in El Paso if we're ever going to get UTEP into the Pac-10.

You mean the PAC-34?
At this rate that's probably so. I personally don't mind CUSA but if miner fans are going to whine about the BCS they need to look in the mirror and blame themselves for not doing enough to get UTEP into the Pac-10.

Spanky,

You're being sarcastic, right? You have to be...... 01-wingedeagle

I know you guys are SEC haters, but listen to me for one min
Let's turn this around, and let's say that Memphis is the undisputed king of C-USA in football. (Of course, we all know Memphis just barely made to the Motor City Bowl, which doesn't have that much prestige, but that's not the point) Ok, what do you guys plan to do about it? 05-mafia Well, you could do what some ACC programs did to FSU in football: start hiring away Memphis' assistant coaches, and have them turn around your program. Make it your goal to beat Memphis in basketball. Hire recruiters to recruit the areas that Memphis does not have a whole lot of competition for. Yes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But, ever consider the rewards are nice also? :domokun: 03-idea
