At the current moment (11:30 am ET) it appears the PAC is imploding. If Arizona to the B12 and UW and OU to the B1G happen, does the ACC make a run at some or all of the PAC leftovers? Would a group of Stanford, Cal, ASU and one more be attractive enough to make an offer?

I hope not. I would hate to have a scheduling alliance with OSU WSU Cal Stan and 8 current G5 schools.

The media partnership has been his preferred approach. Phillips is not an expansionist (more like a pacifist) and it looks like some ACC schools are against an expansion.
But Phillips/ACC leaderehip should be ready to make a last minute invitation.

I think it still depends how this shakes out.
It appears Washington and Oregon might be staying put, and therefore, ASU and Utah may be staying put as well. UA...that is the unknown.
Some sort of formal arrangement between the Pac and ACC, which makes both some more money (instead of cutting into per team payouts), keeps two playoff "autobids" intact, doesn't require huge new travel expenditures, doesn't dilute the conference with G5 schools.... that would sound like a fantastic outcome for the ACC. Bonus if you can ship FSU to Pullman every year.
If only Cal and Standford are left, than I agree, doesn't make sense to have a scheduling arrangements with a bunch of mostly G5 schools.

McMurphy just reported that ORWA gone!
Utes, Zona, ASU, Wazzu, OSU, Stanford, Cal remain. I'd think that Zona jumps to the Big12 next at a minimum.
Of course, JP could make a pitch to get Zona, ASU, Stanford, Cal, and Utah, but there is no reason to think he's even remotely competent enough to do so.

Welp, yep, my prior post completely irrelevant then.

I mean losing OR/WA to the B10 is not JP’s fault. The ACC can’t compete with the B10.
But the Pac doomsday finally came. JP just cannot watch on the sidelines. The Pac leftover is not that valuable. But letting them join the B12 would threaten the ACC’s position. The ACC needs to make a move.

what move can they make at this point? Stanford and Cal are waiting/hoping for a B1G invite, Zona is as good as gone to the Big12 with ASU most likely to follow, Utah will then (begrudgingly) follow suit. We cannot, under any circumstances, invite OSU or Wazzu. I think we got nothing at this point.

The best strategy for ACC is to pick up Arizona State, Utah, Cal and Stanford. I think ESPN allows ACC to add four.
