RE: 2023-24 Roster
Some interesting tidbits on Sjolund from a Schlossman Media Day article.

10. The NCAA suspended Western Michigan defenseman Samuel Sjolund for 42 games for playing in a pro league in his native Sweden during the COVID-19 pandemic. After an appeal, the NCAA lowered the suspension to 39 games. Last season, the Broncos played exactly 39 games, so the Dallas Stars draft pick will be eligible to play right away.

"Not only did he have to be suspended, he had to pay back a fairly large sum of money," Western Michigan coach Pat Ferschweiler said. "What it says is that he wants to be a Bronco and he wants to play college hockey, because he's done two things that are very hard — not play for an entire year (and pay back the money). But he took advantage of the year. He's bigger, faster and stronger than he was. He looks really good right now in camp. I believe he's going to run one of our power-play units. He's going to get lots of opportunities to then chase his dream of playing pro hockey."

Thats refreshing to hear because our D-core will be so solid this year and he will immediately replace Fulp.

Met Samuel last season and talked with him for a bit. Seemed like a really nice and down to earth young man. Looking forward to seeing him play here (hopefully for awhile).

RE: 2023-24 Roster
My guess for d-men and forwards:

D-men: Bauer, Galambos, Hilsendager, Fiedler, Berger, Sjolund (EXTRA D-MAN Napier)

Forwards: Cassetti, Grainger, Hillebrand, Colangelo, Washe, Schingoethe, Bump, Knuble, Costantini, Larkin, Phillips, Wendt.

My guess it there will be some shuffling with a few forwards at the beginning with some guys in and out, but I do like our depth. I would figure a guy like Bump will see ice immediately as a freshman and possibly freshman Somoza as he had a huge year in the BCHL last year.

I think Somoza, Michaels, and Crusberg-Roseen will all be regulars in the lineup.

I’d be surprised if Bauer isn’t a regular.

If any of the freshmen bump Galambos, Berger, Fiedler, Hilsendager, Bauer, or Sjolund out of the lineup, they’re going to have to be damn good.

Took my kids to the Skate With The Broncos event yesterday. Grainger was wearing a C, and Washe was wearing an A on their sweaters.
