Biden Talks About Artificial Intelligence and It Goes All Kinds of Wrong

Biden has moments where he is not only unable to complete a sentence but unable to complete words. That happened on Thursday, when I think he was talking about recession, but you had to try to decipher what he even meant to say, as he just made an incoherent word salad.

But if Biden talking about the recession and not telling the truth about the economy was bad enough, you know that Joe Biden talking about artificial intelligence is bound to be a minefield of problems.

It didn’t start so badly, with Biden sort of making a bad joke. “I’m the AI,” Biden said while entering the room to make his remarks.

We might prefer the AI version of Biden, but unfortunately, for the moment, we’re stuck with the real article.

But then it got weird when Biden commented about Abraham Lincoln, “If any of you think I’m Abe Lincoln, blame it on the AI.”

No, Joe, I don’t think any of us would confuse you with Honest Abe. That’s one of those “things that would never happen for 100, Alex.”

Biden was joined by representatives from seven companies that are working with artificial intelligence. The companies include Amazon, Anthropic, Google, Inflection, Facebook parent company Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI.

But he seemed so worn out, even though he was just starting his remarks—and this was the only event listed on his schedule for the day, apart from his daily briefing.

Biden couldn’t even get through two paragraphs on the teleprompter before he began to have difficulties. Even with the teleprompter to help him, he still seemed to get confused about what he was supposed to say.

“Artificial intelligence or promises a, an enormous — an enormous promise of both risk to our society and our economy and our national security, but also incredible opportunities — incredible opportunities,” Biden blathered, in complete incoherence.

Biden then spoke about the things they were doing to reduce the risks of artificial intelligence. Somehow, coming from Biden and considering everything he’s done to this point, that was not reassuring. He spoke about “innovention” rather than “innovation,” and seemed to have trouble remembering the word “Europe.”

The group here will be critical in shepherding that innovation with responsibility and safety by design to earn the trust of Americans. And, quite frankly, as I met with world leaders, all — all — all our Eur- — all the G7 is focusing on the same thing.

If you can’t even remember the word “Europe” or “European” (as in allies), then there’s a big problem.

Biden didn’t sound or look well.

He also had more fights with the teleprompter.

I think these leaders and — I thank these leaders that are in the room with me today — (clears throat) — and their partnership — excuse me — and their commitments that they’re making. This is a serious responsibility, and we have to get it right. And there’s enormous, enormous potential upside as well.

It looked like he wanted to beat it out of there. Reporters tried to get him to answer questions about China’s hacking of cabinet officials, but Joe being Joe, he wasn’t even going to go there. He ignored the question, then tried to shuffle out as fast as he could, telling his staff, “Ready? How we getting these guys [the representatives] down there?”

It’s a problem, that this is what we get when these folks are talking about artificial intelligence.

LOL, what a complete farce this Administration is. Biden* is at Stage 2 Alzheimer's yet wanders about lost like a 3 year old and mixing up his comments in these PCs.

I expect at some point he will pinch a loaf in his Depends during a speech and try to crack a joke about it. "Well, I feel better now."
