RE: DeSantis Blames Trump for J6 Insurrection, Pledges to Stop Prosecuting Corrupt Democr
Well damn AM. Another promising republican commits hara-kiri with a sword provided by the democrats. No political savvy. One down and what, three to go? Hope the rest learned something from this sad event.

He’s not finished yet. A stunningly strong performance in the (likely Trumpless) first debate may breathe some life back into the DeSantis campaign. But it’s not looking good.
The only lesson learned from this sorry situation is that only Donald Trump is permitted to mail it in. Every other contender had better come prepared with their A++++ game.

DeSantis is not finished but you have to honestly consider the dynamics. DeSantis was hyped beyond measure as the next Trump but better than Trump. That simply wasn’t true. He can only trend down or be static from here on out

Quote:Speaking in South Carolina today, presidential candidate Ron DeSantis blamed President Trump for the events of January 6, 2021, in Washington DC saying, “I think it was shown how he was in the White House and didn’t do anything while things were going on. Should he have come out more forcefully? Of course.” However, DeSantis affirmed he does not believe Trump’s transgressions amounted to criminal conduct. “But to try to criminalize that, that’s a different issue entirely,” the Florida governor noted.
Governor DeSantis then tacked to his preferred position that politicians should not be criminally targeted and promised if he was elected, he would to a more reach-across-the-decorum, saying “I think that we want to be in a situation where you don’t have one side just constantly trying to put the other side in jail.”
DeSantis pledging to return civility to the Dept of Justice comes on the same day the DOJ is about to deploy yet another indictment against the political opposition of the current administration. I’m not sure the civility DeSantis requires would be afforded by the institutions DeSantis supports. WATCH:
(New York Post – Rupert Murdoch) – […] DeSantis spoke hours after Trump disclosed, he is a target of special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the events surrounding the ransacking of the Capitol.
Smith has been spearheading the DOJ’s two investigations involving Trump: one into the Capitol riot and the former president’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election result, and the other into sensitive national security material kept at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort.
Jesus Christ dude, what do you do for a living? Over 90% of the threads on the board's front page today were started by you.
lol---been around here long? Crimson has long been a prolific conversation starter on this board.
I'm aware of that. My point is at least 90% of the threads on the first page were started by him, which is more than usual. Geez, who has time to read so many articles and make so many posts?

Agree with this assessment. I’m just surprised that he wasn’t ready to meet those (admittedly overhyped) expectations.

I disagree, stick a fork in him. His ambition got the better of him. His performance in his home state made him think that somehow it would translate to the national stage. When his donors were uncovered I knew he was finished. The conservative electorate is tired of establishment types and after all is said and done he is the epitome of an establishment darling. You can bank on the fact that it was his moneyed handlers who mistakenly told him to take on Trump at this time. He should have waited for his turn. Now not only is he attacking Trump, he's jumped in bed with the left. He may never recover from that, at least not at the national level.
Before someone starts reeeeeeing with but Trump attacked him first, Trump did everything he did while under a constant barrage of attacks from the left and its media lackeys while Ron can't even handle attacks from an inter-party opponent on his own damn side. Imagine how he'd fare when the left turns their attention on him.

Wishful thinking on my part, perhaps.
In a alternative world if I was running for president and there was a lot of hype around me going in, I would immediately tamper down those lofty expectations and make sure my advisors did the same. No need to put extra pressure on myself or others expectations of myself
