Why does the notion exist that CUSA has to expand to 12 or as this article shares, 14 teams?

There is no reason whatsoever at this point as the league will be able to respond to any departures by plucking programs that are not going anywhere anytime soon...

I did read it; even mentions Elon! Not sure Richmond would take a CUSA membership unless it was football-only due to their hoops.

Just do not understand the consistent need to try to push CUSA to 12 or 14 members; this continues to come up. Those schools whether it be McNeese or Tarleton or whomever are not going anywhere else; will be there in two, four, six years unless there's significant upheaval or the UAC somehow makes it to FBS.

Agreed! I don't care if my brother wrote the article---90% ridiculous.

Only way I would consider going 14 at this time, Army said bring these 3 teams in with us.

The only teams we could get that other conferences want would be Delaware, Missouri State, and maybe Tarleton State in the future.

There could be lots of changes in the future. Already large or fast growing universities like FGCU, UNF, UTA, and VCU may add football. Delaware, Rhode Island, and maybe UTC may decide to move up to FBS. The list of candidates could get significantly larger than just McNeese St, Tarleton St., or UIW. I think CUSA should be careful to expand larger than necessary too fast.

If you think Kennesaw State’s facilities are bad you have never been on campus at UIW. They would need a complete overhaul.

That's true. At this point, I was saying only those 3 teams could add value or I could see other conferences wanting. But things can change. New athletic directors with different visions can happen. Schools can get an influx of cash. So you are right, new candidates might emerge.

You should tour 5/3 Bank Stadium. 5/3 Bank Stadium is a nice facility it is undersized.

It pains me to agree with Jones, but he's right.

The issue with 5/3 is not at all that it's a crappy facility. It's just too freaking small.

It's probably one of the nicest sub-10K-capacity stadiums in America.

Fifth Third isn't crappy, but it still feels very small time in addition to being actually small.
