I suspect the remaining members already know such a deal is unlikely---but I think they have come to the conclusion that waiting until late 2023 or even early 2024 doesnt really have any adverse consequences----so they see no reason to act rashly when there is still time on the clock that could allow for their preferred outcome to potentially come to fruition.

The Big 12 pro-rata for P5 probably isn't open for that long. ESPN is required to pay it, but not Fox. You think Fox is going to go blind for 4-5 months without knowing their inventory for '24 and beyond? I'm not sure, but it's not a safe assumption you are making here. Since FS1 has BSU home games that have to be renewed (or unlikely to be renewed given the recent Broncos trajectory), they probably want some Mountain schools in the Big 12 to fill that potential void. They need late Saturday content as well.

I don't think there is a hard cutoff date, and neither do the Presidents and ADs of Colorado and Arizona who have been, and continue to be, in regular contact with the Big 12. They have certainly been told Fox would pay the pro rata for them. It's apparently similar for Arizona State, but they are much less inclined to potentially move.

That said, I'd probably guess November would be the fish or cut bait deadline for any 2024 moves. But I expect decisions before that time, including the Pac-12 media deal, whatever that turns out to be if anything. We have a better idea of what it's not than what it might be. (Not Fox, CBS, NBC/USA, Amazon and not CW; not likely primary on ESPN, except at a steep discount, though rumor is they only want a secondary game after dark for a low price.)
