Dear emu79,
I thought Eastern was no longer in the business of approving Charter schools? I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like they are back in it with this Charter school committee that I read about.

I found Section 28 most interesting.

It is a ground lease for the N.W. corner of Hewitt and Clark.

We, at least I, have asked about that land.

You were on point Steve for sure.

I'm just suspicious of the economic viability of such a development in an area where so much existing building space is available. I remember the wonderful River Caddis offer for the COB that never closed.

Two quick takeaways from just the first sentence of section 28….
Did they mean “president OR his designee”? It says “of”.

Also that the language is gender specific. While the president is currently a man… the president may not always be a man.

Now zi wish EMU could acquire the land at zLowell and N. Huron and turn it into green space to beautify that area of campus.

Did you mean the reappointment of the existing members on this agenda, or something else? I thought it was a legacy thing.

In the past, charter schools wanted approval from schools of education. of colleges in the State of Michigan. This became a problem, because of the failure, or poor performance, of many charter schools. It was then, a so called reflection of the schools of education for not being active enough in supporting these charter schools. This is what I was talking about in my above statement.

Ken - I agree and I shudder to see them mentioned at all.

I just didn't see anything substantive on the agenda when I followed the links, just a couple board resumes.
