Jobless claims higher than expected
Rate increases finally starting to work.
Quote:Jobless claims totaled 261,000 for the week ended June 3, an increase of 28,000 from the previous week.
The total was well ahead of the Dow Jones estimate for 235,000 and in fact was the highest weekly rate since Oct. 30, 2021.
The report comes less than a week ahead of the next Federal Reserve meeting

In the past, jobless claims have tended to accelerate once they pass the 250K mark.

RE: Jobless claims higher than expected
A total of 1.635 million people were receiving jobless benefits through May 20, up from 1.283 million from a year ago, an increase of 27.4%.

From the article.

Match this with the current rate of inflation and you will see Marc Mensa dancing with glee at all of these winning combinations. 04-clap201-wingedeagle

People who may not be referred to as "illegal" are taking up jobs and cannot be reported as working or unemployed....
