Some were on campus and some were neutral sites so I doubt we'll ever find a perfect fit attendance wise. I think we just need to find a few different sites to rotate between that are easy to travel to and will offer fans some level of entertainment.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare the big P5 baseball conferences. Schools, number of fans, familiarity with traveling distances for events…

I’d like to see a comp among the G5.

we are a p5 conference in baseball though, let the big 10 compare themselves to " the others". We are the 5th rated conference in rpi and 5th most regional teams, ahead of the big 10

To be fair if you look at conference RPI decimal the margin between SBC and 6th place Big 10 is extremely thin. Compare that to the margin between SBC and 4th place Pac 12 (a margin almost 10X the size as the margin separating SBC and Big 10) and it's a rather large margin. There's definitely still tons of room for growth to run away as the 5th best conference to get to where we are nipping at the toes of Big 12 and Pac.

RE: 2023 SBC baseball tournament
The above post about RPI made me think about this year's RPI for South Alabama not being the norm and how much difference that could have made. To get an idea of what each team is expected to do on an average year, I took the RPI for each team over the last 10 seasons. The 2020 season was excluded so I went 2013-2023. All years I went with final RPI except for this year since it's not quite final. Here are some superlatives:

Average RPI over last 10 years:
40.4 - Southern Miss
53.5 - Louisiana
55.2 - Coastal Carolina
74.6 - South Alabama
87.7 - Georgia Southern
87.7 - Old Dominion
97.0 - Troy
118.3 - Texas State
163.1 - Georgia State
164.9 - Arkansas State
165.9 - App State
175.6 - James Madison
186.9 - ULM
189.1 - Marshall

If you took out the worst season for each team and average the rest you'd have:
32.9 - Southern Miss
40.1 - Coastal Carolina
44.8 - Louisiana
65.9 - South Alabama
69.9 - Old Dominion
81.6 - Georgia Southern
86.3 - Troy
106.4 - Texas State
155.4 - Georgia State
155.8 - Arkansas State
157.6 - App State
168.4- James Madison
179.3 - ULM
182.4 - Marshall

Median RPI per team:
30 - Southern Miss
41 - Coastal Carolina
51 - Louisiana
63 - South Alabama
81 - Old Dominion
84 - Georgia Southern
102 - Troy
124 - Texas State
159 - Georgia State
171 - James Madison
172 - Arkansas State
175 - App State
187 - ULM
201 - Marshall

Overall best RPI over any season between 2013-2023:
5 - Coastal Carolina (2016)
6 - Louisiana (2014)
11 - Southern Miss (2017)
14 - Old Dominion (2021)
18 - South Alabama (2013)
21 - Texas State (2022)
23 - Georgia Southern (2022)
35 - Troy (2013)
64 - Marshall (2016)
76 - Arkansas State (2014)
87 - App State (2023)
97 - Georgia State (2022)
100 - James Madison (2023)
122 - ULM (2021)

Overall worst RPI over any season between 2013-2023:
108 - Southern Miss (2013)
132 - Louisiana (2019)
143 - Georgia Southern (2013)
153 - South Alabama (2014)
191 - Coastal Carolina (2014)
193 - Troy (2014)
225 - Texas State (2021)
232 - Georgia State (2019)
240 - James Madison (2017)
241 - App State (2016)
247 - Arkansas State (2022)
248 - Old Dominion (2018)
249 - Marshall (2021)
255 - ULM (2017)

Combined average RPI for all 14 teams by year:
94.4 - 2022
105.1 - 2016
107.6 - 2023
112.7 - 2013
121.3 - 2018
122.1 - 2019
127.4 - 2017
131.0 - 2014
131.9 - 2015
132-1 - 2021

Overall average: 118.6

In fairness, I should have expounded upon my “big P5” comment. Was referencing more the ones in what I replied to, the ACC, SEC, and Big12. The bigger BASEBALL P5s. I don’t consider the B10 or PAC to be that much better than us either. They always have one or two good ones, but thinner overall.

I turned on a couple innings of the Texas-Kansas game in the Big 12 tourney during a midweek day game. Nobody was there. Neutral site in Arlington. So even those conferences had their struggles.
