In regard to golf suggestions, for public courses in the area, I always liked Boone Golf Club and Mountain Glen in Newland (about 40 minutes away)

Thanks, MTneer84! I'll check them out. And after I thought about it, best brewery and/or bar in Boone?

Truthfully, Boone Golf Club is a great course that you'll like. There are some incredible private courses but well. Best brewery is Booneshine and they have such a cool environment. Enjoy your time, sorry you'll go home with an L but hope the rest of your trip is great!

Bar? Boone Saloon or Ale House. Both a little dive-y. Lilly's Snack Bar is a personal fave, but it's a little new age progressivey and that might turn off some, but they don't care. They have cocktails on tap. Twigs in BR for a little more class.

Brewery? Boone currently has four and a fifth about finished. All four current ones are good and have a variety of different styles of beers. Lagers, Stouts, Porters, IPAs, Ales, Sours, Pilsners, etc.

Appalachian Mountain Brewery (who just bought out Anheuser Busch's stake in the company and took it back private)

Booneshine has a huge restaurant and ale house and nice outdoor space

Lost Province has two locations one restaurant/pizza/brewery/etc. and one tap room in East Boone.

Parallel Brewery is in the Beacon Butcher Bar. Fine beer. Small.

South End Brewery is on it's way in the old Murphy/Ransom spot. But it's owned out of greensboro.

if you're coming for the game in November, call and check who's still open. West Jefferson has Jefferson Landing and Mountain Aire which are OK. Linville Land Harbor is semi private I think you can get a tee time as a non member though. I've never played there

If you're looking to spend some good coin and there is availability the nicest course you can get on is Linville Golf Club. Its a Donald Ross course that is immaculate. I've walked and played pinehurst and quail hollow and its every bit as nice and manicured. Green Fees are expensive from what i remember and they require you to stay at on the onsite Lodge. I always played for free in college because one of my buddies dated a cart girl 03-lmfao also they might be closed for golf by then.

Booneshine is the best brewery. AMB is good and the original owners just bought it back from AB inbev so i expect the quality to go back up. I've always thought the beer at Lost Province was tasty enough and the pizzas are good.

Rivers Street Ale house is the go to bar since the OG portofinos closed for a stupid condo building or whatever.

Went 6-6, I am getting the feeling App finally got a mediocre to-bad HC hire for the first time. It was bound to happen. The difference between 2021 and 2022 was very eye-opening, that was a huge drop-off.

5 Offensive Coordinators in 5 years will do that.

I remember losing in 2017 in Monroe. ULM didn't lose by much in the second half of last season, so I know it won't be easy.

Yup. crApp won't beat GS for the next 10 years, book it.

The longest winning streak by either is 4.
The longest road streak is 2
The total number of wins by GS in Boone is 4.

So GS is about to go on a 10 game winning streak, with 5 wins on the road, which would more than double their current wins in Boone?

Are you new to this?

All local courses will likely be closed at that time of year. On your way down about 2 miles off I-77 in Elkin is a hidden gem Ellis Maples design Cedarbrook Country Club. Non-members play M-F. If you can work it in you won't be disappointed.

RE: Predict their Record: Appalachian State
Everyone is convinced Burger will be the starter, but juco Joey Aquilar has only been on campus 5 months and is in the thick of the race with Ryan who's been in the offense nearly a year. It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds this fall. Either way I think we'll be fine if we can address some depth issues on the OL. With the size and depth at RB and relative inexperience at QB I think we will likely be more of a run heavy offense. Defense lost some players, but the staff was very successful in the portal. In our scheme the Anchor OLB is a huge cog and if Brendon Harrington returns healthy we'll be fin, if not Sullivan will do fine, but depth will be a big question mark. Some really good young players there, but they are very young and it is a complicated position to learn. Key is that Scott Sloan is back as DC and as Nate Woody's original pupil he knows the scheme as good, if not better, than anyone.

Considering the Apps are 8-3 vs the Cajuns it appears you have that backwards.

They did get 3 in a row, but “GoFor2” ain’t walking through that door anymore. App is 8-0 against UL without him as their coach.

This is not my fight, but I can’t help but think your 8-0 coaches (Satterfield and Drinkwitz) are also not walking through the door anymore. I’m not sure either of you have the upper hand on the other until you play again. 03-drunk
