Am sorta surprised SMU is in the mix. Is a small Christian school that doesn't draw well in either sport,(Around 22/23 thou in football and I don't think SMU got over 5 thou in any of their BB games). Both in tiny venues of 32 thou and 7 thou. And they don't get close to selling any game out...unless the crowd comes for the opponent...(TCU).
It is all sub-par for a P5 team.
I suppose the only draw is they are in TX. AND....they have a decent history, SWC stalwart.
Also....they & SDSU may possibly be the best teams available out there, which is sorta sad too.
To sum it all up.........if the Big 12 had their druthers and they just might be able to pick and choose...they would go after those big PAC 12 schools 1st. I guess that's what has been happening and maybe why SDSU made that decision to stay in the MWC.

I’m a bit surprised about SMU too, but I guess the appeal is the Dallas market/exposure for recruiting, and their academics which is important to the PAC. They also have a decent amount of money and NIL support for a private school. I guess it’s similar to Miami, my alma mater. I’m surprised by all the talk that they are in consideration for the Big 10.

Also, drawing fans for college programs in large cities tends to be a struggle, except for big games. The fans are there, it’s just difficult to get them to the games when the game isn’t the main thing on everyone’s mind in town. Now for big enough games the stadium would be packed.

It doesn't matter if he's the biggest *******/homer on earth. Those graphs are valid. As far being a victim, I don't give a flip what you think.

I’ve said this before but to repeat, if the PAC miraculously stays afloat and the 10 current members don’t bolt then the B12 is in trouble come 2029/2030.

I easily envision a scenario where the ACC and PAC team up to plunder the B12.

If the B12 can add the 4Cs (or more) from the PAC, then they will be better positioned to defend themselves against an attempted raid by the ACC in the future.

Interesting thing I learned from that chart is almost the entire Big12 will have to add sponsored programs if the new 16-sport requirement is voted into effect by the NCAA.

Memphis averages 4.5 out of 13 of the combined graphs. That's the current B12. Average is 6.5.

Only Memphis and BYU are in the top half. Saying we don't belong is nonsense.

The BIG12 wants western representation. It's expanding its footprint. Memphis could compete in that conference, but they want to offer games in the later timeslots. It increases the value of the tv contract, and gives them exposure at night.

The BIG12 simply doesn't need Memphis. They're already the best basketball conference, so they don't need another basketball school, and Memphis football has digressed. Your football program would add very little. ???

The Big12 has stabilized itself. It's going after the big boys now.

They don't need a basketball team that's better than 2/3rds of the best conference in basketball?...read em' and weep.
