Him (or any other young successful coach) leaving, for anywhere, was inevitable with Coastal’s lack of financial commitment. End of story.
The next coach has ZERO to do with the former coach. That can be an independent opinion, and mine is just as Eagle said, “underwhelming”. Coastal could’ve ponied up and tried to keep JC. They could’ve had the 2nd brain behind our prolific O, for a lesser price no less, but didn’t even consider him. Or, they could’ve hired someone to move the needle. They didn’t. They got a guy Joe knows, on the cheap. My assessment of BECK, not “JC’s replacement”.
Lack of Coastal's financial commitment? What exactly did you expect Coastal to offer JC? He is making $4m a year to coach in Conference USA. Beck is currently one of the highest paid HCs in the league without coaching a down. Relatively speaking, that isn't exactly "for the cheap". I understand not being high on the Beck hire, he hasn't proved anything yet but keeping JC was not a realistic option. No reason to even consider stretching way beyond our means just to be gutted at the earliest convenience. Coastal didn't value the show that much. Rightfully so. It was always temporary.

He’s clearly upset that JC left and not happy with his replacement that he’s making up stuff.
He says it isn’t about JC then said we should have ponied up for JC or his disciple.
He says we went cheap when we are paying the new HC $1 million per year with a generous bonus structure for Beck and the entire coaching staff. Coastal is in the upper half of the league, perhaps higher, with our coaching budget. But he wants to literally poor mouth the administration.
JC was out the door when we weren’t going to give him a Napier / ULL contract. He nearly went to USF chasing a pay day at a bad school but lucked out and got a nearly $30 million dollar deal in a very weak CUSA. He’ll beat up those teams then we’ll see in OOC if the better teams have figured out his offense or not. What is clear is he had exactly one QB that could run his offense here so will be interesting to see if he’s able to develop more talent somewhere else with an unlimited budget.

7-5 with my teal colored glasses firmly in place looking at losses to UCLA, the Georgia teams, and Old Dominion on the road! I predict James Madison will also dominate us again but I don't think we'll be blown out in any contest. The APP State game on a Tuesday coming off a bye looks like fool's gold in Boone which could easily transform our season into a losing debut instead for Beck along with a comical slip-up against a tough FCS squad (Jax State or Duquesne) or a tricky match for our defense (Army)...
