This would certainly signal that Miami is likely on the way out, the logistics of a 9 team league make little sense.

Is that going to mean ASU & Western get the previous Miami rivalry match-up?

I don't want to see Miami leave, but if they do, I would love to have ASU as our rivals. The better we do in Tempe the better our recruiting in the southwest will become. With Murray we had a decent pipeline of southern Cali guys, and this will only help us.

I hope not. An annual trip to Tempe will mean WMU will be adding Lindenwood and Stonehill for cheap home games to make up for conference travel cost increases.

Aren't ND, Michigan, Sparty, Ferris, & BGSU the cheap home games?

Tempe in Dec., Jan., Feb., or March sounds great to me. I'll there for WMU first road series.

I agree, it would be a fun add. Only fly in the ointment would be if the overall B1G continues to expand and ASU is certainly on the short list.

Personally, I would never schedule the Irish. They had an opportunity to join the NCHC and would have been a great traveling partner for WMU, but they thumbed their nose at us, choosing to join Hockey East. I hope they have to fly everywhere vs taking a short bus ride. This is how the NCHC ended up getting SCSU...
The only MI team I wanted WMU to regularly schedule is Michigan. I want WMU to have the bragging/recruiting rights with in state recruits, WMU is top program in Michigan who also plays in the toughest hockey conference. But, since they ducked WMU in the GLI, the way I look at it is they owe us a home series. Not a home and home, but a home series. Until they do this, we should keep telling the story how Michigan ducks us and is afraid to play WMU.
One series a year vs a WCHA team is enough for me. BGSU is a regular good home and home to keep in non-GLI years. I'd personally drop Ferris, unless WMU happens to play them in the GLI. OSU home and home would be a good PIG10 team to keep on our schedule, assuming we are not playing Michigan.

This is all too much soap opera for me. I want to see Western be a top college hockey team who plays other top college hockey teams.
