UTA Students Pass Referendum For The Return of College Football
Students Pass Referendum To Restart Foorball

The vote was 1004 to 625. That is a large number that passed by the students.

It's not a done deal. It has to go to the Texas legislature and then potentially back to the college for another vote.

The WAC would become more stabilized with UTA bringing back football. Hopefully Arkansas-Little Rock follows suit in the OVC. I hope New Orleans tries again.

Yes, the more schools who can barely get 1,000 people for basketball games on their best day, desperately need these football programs.

Don't compare football attendance with basketball attendance below the MDL...

They are assuming, like student debt, that the taxpayers of Texas who get no benefit from this will gladly fork over the extra $millions annually. Besides, by the time it gets going almost all those voters will be long graduated and not paying increased fees.

Why not? Most of the WAC schools don't draw flies for football either.

Look at this huge crowd for Kennesaw State! They don’t get fans for their basketball games either.

This is a great first step for them. Another team in the AWFC would be awesome!

If they add football, there's a massive chance C-USA adds them.

UTA should have made this move when they were an SBC school.

Maverick Stadium is still available but aging. But if they're aiming for the WAC, there's a stadium available down the road. (No, not that one...)

They can play in an old, empty baseball stadium like Georgia State. Oh boy

There is a huge, HUGE difference between "students vote in favor of a student fee increase" and "school actually takes concrete steps to reestablish football"

"What we're hearing"

1. Judy MacLeod has a meeting with the UTA student body president Monday morning at a Metroplex donut shop TBD

2. Decisions, decisions: TAMU-Tarleton or UT-Arlington? Or maybe both?

3. Supposedly, Judy is interested to changing the two-division format from "East" and "West" to "Texas" and "Not Texas"

Your football envy is showing again. Maybe Seattle will start a team soon and get out of the I-AAA mindset.
