UMass plays at or hosts MAC teams 15 times between this year and 2028 (see fbsschedules). Half the 12 MAC teams are involved, more than any other o-o-c opponent I can find. (BGSU in 2025, 2026, so you might see some of those guys he listed.)

Steve1981 is a huge proponent of re-adding UMass to the MAC, all-sports this time if persuasion works. Anyway, as far as this curmudgeon (NIU fan since very early 1970s, college football since mid-1960s) is concerned, he's welcome any time around here. (Also, I like to read what our opponents are up to; vs. NIU in '24 and '26.)

BTW, I have posted on that UMass forum also, with no "hint" to leave. Good folks there. FYI, it's listed as "Independent" because their football team is indy. Other sports are in the A10.

Bowling Green recently landed verbals from a couple of three-star recruits.

There's been a particularly big exodus to the portal from Indiana and Michigan State (coaching changes and all). Will be curious to see if any wind up on MAC schools' offer list or commits.

Worth adding, I suppose: Martreece Dillard was a Vanderbilt decommit who had offers reported on 247 from Vanderbilt, Arizona, Auburn, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Duke, East Carolina, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Indiana, James Madison, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri and South Florida.

Elias Owens was also offered by Eastern Michigan, Ball State, Ohio, Minnesota, and Pittsburgh.

Lester left the cupboards mostly bare as recruiting had gradually declined since the Fleck era. Then 5 starters transferred to P5 schools during the coaching change this year. Taylor has his work cut out for him to get his guys in and rebuild this roster.

They lost some real studs last year, the cupboard was not bare. The Coach wants his guys, nothing else matters.

Bowling Green has another three-star recruit, this one a defensive lineman from Georgia. Other offers included James Madison, Liberty, and Army.
