OK, I understand now.

Iona does take hoops very seriously and they have been good all the way back to when Jeff Ruland was a star there before playing for the Bullets.

I think that is the difference. Iona is proactive in trying to have a strong basketball program. Coaches feel like they have the full support of their athletic department. On the flipside, W&M has a higher endowment and most likely pays better, but seem unserious or ambivalent when it comes to pushing for excellence in the program.

Basketball is literally all Iona has. Regardless of how you feel about coaches, I wouldn’t trade anything - zero- we have with Iona: overall athletics, conference, facilities, stature.

The one question that has consistently haunted me when it comes to our men's basketball program, for close to 50 years at this point, is why do we have such a hard time getting out of our own way?

Iona also had Don McLean. But that was A Long Long Time Ago.

That's correct. There's always an excuse for why other schools will do what W&M won't. It usually involves some combo of money, conference affiliation, the Vast Anti-Tribe Conspiracy, not joining the ACC way back when, a jar of nutella, the KGB, FBI, WPA and a bad call against UNC.

Would be okay with me if some Tribe coaches wandered into a few Princeton practices to pick up some tips.

Just mentioned Jaden Pierce’s brother who played at W&M. Surprised they didn’t say played for UNC.

Love watching the first half of the Princeton-Creighton game. The way basketball is meant to be played. Spacing, passing and cutting clinic.

He said both, UNC and William & Mary. Good family ties.

I hope Justin looks back at his time and career here in a positive light. Always assumed so. I believe he flourished academically and had a girlfriend here?
