They did it for Nutria... this is a layup. Yes, they can get gamey and they're awful to clean... so how about dog food?

Seriously, high quality 'meat' dog food is $6+/lb. I buy 'excess' rotiserie chickens from my local grocery when they go on sale... ends up costing me about $2/lb and my dog thinks he's in heaven.

And I hit a feral hog square with my glock 9 and didn't even throw him off stride.
It takes alot to bring one down.. Even a well placed shot with a compound bow will still probably require finishing it off with a pistol.. Possibly 45 or higher caliber. And it'll probably need to be a head shot.

7.62 x 39 FMJ does the job quite nicely. When I said carbine I was referring to the kind of rifle, not the .30 cal M1 used in Korea. Most just have a final grunt. The round will penetrate and exit a pine tree 8 inches in circumference. It's why the bad guys in Nam used them in the jungles while our guys were firing supersonic bbs. A twig or limb, or heavy brush will deflect a .223, but the AK round just penetrates and keeps on trucking. Put me in a wide open space like a desert war and I'll take the .223. Put me in the woods in the South and I'll take the 7.62. Even the largest, and meanest, of the hogs I killed offered little resistance to the 7.62 fmj. It's also why I tried to hunt them while I was at elevation to the target. The fmj will bury itself in the ground and an errant shot won't then travel 2 miles before being spent. The .45 would be the coup de grace as it hit with enough energy to be a very effective maul.

Hogs aren't hard to dress, they're just filthy. I've had double kills on multiple occasions. I prefer one at the time because it does take some time to clean one. When I take a second it's because they are hanging around too long.

JR. Some years ago down in swamps of South Louisiana hunting with these Coonazzes they had their own way of skinning hogs. They gutted the hogs then hoisted them up the air and built fires and filled 55 gallon barrels with water. As the water boiled they would lower the hogs into the hot water and then pull them out scrape all the hair off of them. After that they used razor blades to cut strips about 2 to 3 inches from top to bottom of the hog. Next they took what I call catfish pliers and stripped the skin off the animals. Said they fry the skin and make their own pork rinds.

Of course the same guys had no problem eating Nutria Rats in their gumbo.

Some genius thought bringing Nutria Rats to Louisiana would be a great way to keep the water canals from getting clogged to help the Rice farmers. The same clown had no idea the rats would prefer eating the rice instead of the scum in the water canals.

oh hell no

What'd we learn class?
1. Tannerite go boom.
2. Pigs can fly ... with enough tannerite.
