Brand new day, or starting all over again—this time from the bottom?

Just dropped $22million for the design firm to come up with the plans. Probably going to hit $300million for total costs.

RE: Brian Gregory out at USF
I repeat, Josh Pastner is available. He will come in and tell you his plan to build a sustainable program to compete at a high level.
He will scoff at the Negative Nellies and praise the Positive Pauls.
He will take you for a ride on his Energy Bus
He will clap, clap, clap his hands, stomp his feet, and flash cards with code words on them.
He will smile and give credit to the great coach and players on the other team as he loses game after game.
He will repeat the same dumb*** mantras over and over and over and over and over in every single mind numbing presser.
He will bring toxic positivity to your school and -
You will hate him within three years

Hmm, pretty sure we were at bottom already. Time to move on, he had enough time to win and he didn’t. But don’t worry one thing we know full well is that nothing stays the same. USF has won before and it will again

Gregory from Dayton didn't work. But Anthony Grant could be an amazing hire if USF is ready to splash the cash.

No chance. Dayton is the better job and he’s a former Dayton player.

True. But he's from Florida. And Gregory was earning the same at USF as Grant is making at Dayton. Give him a 25% pay increase (let's say from 1.6 to 2 mil, and no income tax) and see how quickly he comes back to sunny weather.

USF is not a destination for basketball. No history of success nor fan support. And Anthony Grant is not that great of a coach. He caught lightning in a bottle during the pandemic year with Obi Toppin but other than that he’s been nothing special. If USF wants to throw money at him, it won’t get much of a return on its investment. Besides, as noted above, Dayton is a MUCH better job than is USF.

Temple needs to do the same and blast McKie to the moon. Props for USF making a change.
The league really needs a lot more from Temple and Wichita basketball :(

No reason Temple shouldn’t be a team vying for a tournament appearance most seasons given their basketball rich recruiting area, first rate basketball facilities, etc. as they were under Dunphy.
McKie has been an abject failure. Hopefully Temple leadership steps up and realizes this.

RE: Brian Gregory out at USF
is your AD on the hotseat?
Those across the board extensions last year for no logical reason seem like an even more disastrous decision now that you've fired 2.

People weren’t happy with those. I think it all depends on how Golesh and the new Basketball coach work out.
He has led in building the IPF and OCS so those are pluses.
I do think that our new President is more involved in making athletics successful than those in fact, so he will need these two new hires to work out.
As for USF being a basketball destination that another poster brought up, first off very few schools can say they are destinations and success at USF in basketball would mean being competitive, middle of the pack on most year and annNCAA trip once every 4-5 years. USF does have the facilities and salaries to be able to achieve that.
In any case , it is an exciting time at USF with all the new facilities and moving on from losing coaches. The old USF would have let Gregory go on just for finishing 8th and almost .500.
