Biden to propose 25% billionaire tax
Link
Quote:The Biden administration is set to propose a series of tax increases for wealthy Americans and large corporations, Bloomberg first reported and Axios has confirmed.
Driving the news: The new budget request to Congress, which is to be released on Thursday, includes a 25% minimum tax on the richest 0.01% of Americans.
What we know: The new budget would close a loophole that allows some wealthy investors with "passthrough businesses" to avoid paying tax on their investments.
It would also increase the top tax rate for Americans making $400,000 a year to 39.6% from 37%, reversing a Trump-era tax bill.
Additionally, it would raise income levies on corporations and billionaires.
The Budget would set the corporate tax rate at 28%, still well below the 35% rate that prevailed prior to the 2017 tax law, according to a White House official.
What's next: The administration is scheduled to hold a briefing on the proposal Thursday morning.

RE: Biden to propose 25% billionaire tax
Another opportunity for the great unifier to divide the people. This administration’s classism is sickening. Why not sign a presidential order and require rich people to wear a dollar sign so all the administration’s peasants will know who is responsible for their poor position in life. Sound familiar?
Read your history.

They'll either do that or simply off shore their asses. Same with taxing wealthy individuals out the ass, they'll bail to somewhere more tax friendly.
Idiot effin democrats Marxists.

You're one of those people that want to go back to the '50's, right? What were the tax rates back then and what are they now?
But by all means, continue being a simp for the billionaires that would ruin your life in a heartbeat if it meant .01% higher profits.

Corporate profits have never been higher, and the prices are still astronomical. Seems to me that less taxes for the very ones that can afford it aren't working.

You must be one of those people that think raising the capital gains will stimulate growth instead of pushing investment to countries with lower tax rates. Liberals and economics don't go together very well and that's been proven time and again.

Yes, I want to live in the 50's because people had common sense back then, and we didn't allow nutjobs like you dictating policy because we had insane asylums for people like you. I also don't simp for billionaires and they didn't ruin my life.

If your argument is that the poor ole FedGov is starving to death for money to do things it shouldn't be involved in in the first place you can count me in on the diet side.
No one in a free and fair society should ever have to pay more than a third of their income in TOTAL taxes.

No one should pay taxes at all. It's nothing more than theft by the government.

I believe income taxes are theft, but there are some forms of taxes I believe in. Sales taxes being one of them.

Dude, one day you are going to have to realize that taxation is a zero sum game. Taxes are a fact of life in a modern society. The more the corporate oligarchs get away with stealing from American citizens with low taxes, the more burden it's going to be on people like you and I, regardless of what side of the political aisle you choose to stand on. By arguing against taxes for the obscenely rich, you are directly supporting higher taxes on the common person.

I disagree with that posit ... maintaining/building/improving infrastructure/defense mandates such by the masses ... implementing a consumption/VAT tax has been successfully discussed to the point of ad nauseam (on this board) ... the problem is it isn't being discussed by the legislative bodies that control such b/c they know it would eliminate too many gub'mints' jobs w/o alternative employment and take control away from the few in power...
however, you're right about the latter (includes city/state/fica) ... today's version is mere theft via the Robinhood principle developed by the Peter Principle'd...

Dude, one day you are going to have to realize that taxation is NOT a zero sum game. There is no set pile of Earthly wealth that we just hand back and forth between billionaires that's being kept out of the hands of the poor. Wealth is created, not appropriated. If wealth isn't a zero sum game then taxes on that wealth, by definition, can not be a zero sum game either.
Rich people make investments, they own businesses, they create......JOBS and Infrastructure.
Rich people have lawyers and accountants who can read the tax code and understand it.
Rich people produce or import products we consume. They can always transfer the costs of their products onto consumers.
Biden and his Congress Critter friends aren't going to pass a law that hurts his own bank accounts or the bank accounts of his wealthy donor friends. The loopholes in this law will be just as big as all the other 40M tax laws of the past.
All this is is yet another steaming pile of feces from the Left leadership to make their low-thinking voters think something is being achieved when not **** is happening. See student loan relief.
Propaganda.
