The field

I'm taking Furman. Have a player who can take over games (Bothwell), and the best defensive player player in Slawson.

Furman had a player who can take over games (Bothwell), and the best defensive player (Slawson) last year, along with a better supporting cast. They still couldn't win it.

Of course they did come close. Very close: SoCon 2022

That 42-year-old monkey (not making the NCAA tournament) is turning 43, and he has to be very heavy.

On the other hand, it's a down year for teams in the SoCon.

UTC have a shot over Samford? Stephens playing makes me think they do.

Absolutely.

Last bracketology I've seen has the SoCon champ being a 14/15 seed. A far cry from years past

I thought so, too, and Stephens certainly was a difference-maker. The path for Furple becomes easier.

If there was ever a year for Furple to break their 30+ year championship drought, its this year

I hope Furman wins this. I certainly dont want Chatt or Wofford to win it again.

I tip my hat to the WCU coach. He did a great job this year.

That was really a quality game, and I think the SoCon has a great representative. I don't get credit for it, since I didn't have the gumption to post it, but I did think Furple would finally break thru. They paid their dues - and then some. But they've yet to pay any NCAA dues, so we'll see. They should get at worst a 14 seed, even as weak as the conference was this year, and a 13 would actually be fair. As if.....

As an aside............sure would have been great if Brad Nuckles could have given us inside what Stephens gives Chatt.

I think Furman will be a good representative into the NCAA tournament. My preference is the regular season champ gets the autobid. And Furman hasn't been in a long time so it's nice to see a long-suffering fan base to see their team in the tournament.

I thought Furman and UTC gave those who watched on ESPN a good show.

Was a good game. Glancing at the CAA Championship just now, sure looks like the SoCon Championship had more in the seats than this DC game.

The crowd in Asheville wasn't quiet, either. Was a loud scene.

Off topic — watching the #1 team in the country, Houston, playing this afternoon (3-10-23) in a mostly empty arena.
