Last few games
Next up is Gonzaga, and then Fresno State. Fresno is 10-18, NET is 162. That will be a tough game, but it would be nice to end with a win. We’ll see how it goes. Fresno States worst loss so far is Sac State, NET 225. They are below .500 at home this season, and had a close home win versus CSU Bakersfield, NET 294.

Even losses against both teams won’t likely hurt the Cougars NET, but coming in 6-1 in their last 7 games is still nice. Chicago State is 11-18, NET is 277 as of today and has been inching up slowly as teams above them lose and some of the teams Chicago has defeated get more wins. Right now, that ranks them ahead of around a quarter of all D1 programs. Not great, but to be ahead of almost 100 other teams is an accomplishment considering the obstacles.

The women are 4-22 and 358 in the NET. Very near the bottom. Even if they sweep Hartford this weekend and pick up a couple of more wins, they won’t likely move up much, if any.

You would think that that would get the attention of some of the bottom feeder conferences.

Yeah, I agree. It isn’t a guarantee of anything, but it’s definitely a big piece of the puzzle. But when you compare NETs and Chicago State ranks smack in the middle of a given conference, it is something in the plus column for them.

Reminds me of the Doctors creed-do no harm. You may not boost a conferences overall ranking, but at least don’t be a total drag on the rankings.

I’m sure feelers have been put out to a variety of conferences. Just due diligence.

Chicago State was previously in the Summit, and Kansas City, Western Illinois, and Oral Roberts (maybe another too) are holdovers from that time.

Additionally, Chicago was in the Great West with North Dakota and South Dakota.

If they would take Chicago State, it’s one of the best options for travel. Perhaps not for Chicago State themselves, but for an Upper Midwest league with few options for realignment due to their location, Chicago remains one of the easiest places for them to reach.

The only way they would take Chicago State is if they lost a lot of members and were on the brink of ceasing to exist. As long as Denver is there, it’s a hard no I’m afraid. Even so, Chicago State is ahead of 5 of their 10 members in the NET.
