MBB vs Elon
Line opens as a pick'em. Suggests Dorsey might be playing?

One could argue that the CAA Tournament really starts for us this week. Sort of a "Win 2, Get 1 Free".

RE: MBB vs Elon
3 seasons ago after a devastating 1-and-done in the CAA tournament, Zablenoise and I were debating the future of our program vs. Elon's. Both programs had first year coaches, so the comparisons seemed pretty good to make at the time.

We set a 3-year long friendly wager that Elon would win 5 out of the next 6 games. We certainly couldn't have seen Elon having Schrage leave, but here we are: tonight's game settles the conversations from March 8, 2020.

Over the past five games since that CAA match up (We were the 2 seed!), Elon is 4-1 and the point differential has been Elon by 54 points in those games, including our win last season.

If nothing else, really good line-setting on our part to keep things interesting in some very dark days.

Here's to brighter days and hopefully less depressing 3-year long wagers ahead, Tribe fans.

We could still *probably* stomach a loss here. Monmouth is the real must-have with the individual tiebreaker in play there no matter what happens tonight.

Would love if it NCA&T could hold the 6 and we could grab the 11. Not that I'm keeping my seat warm, but the best chance of lightning in a bottle goes through them and then one of UNCW/Towson instead of getting CoC or Hofstra Round 2.

Agreed.

Also, as an 11 we would not play until the last game on Saturday, and, if we won, we would not play until the last game on Sunday.

I'd bet the Tribe goes 5-1 over the next 6 contests following this season against Elon if there is a new coach in 2023-24. Which one of you is pulling for Elon tonight to win the bet?

RE: MBB vs Elon
Let me say that I do truly admire the fandom and support that allows 75 and FD10 to be running permutations for how the Tribe could win the tourney from the 11 seed. While it is totally delusional and with less chance than winning the Powerball, I do admire the thoughts. Without looking it up, I'd say it is likely that the Tribe would be the lowest ranked team ever in the NET/RPI era to win a conference tourney if they pulled it off. The Tribe currently ranks 315(out of 363). But there are 4 CAA schools that rank lower including both of the remaining regular season opponents. Only the NEC and the SWAC have more teams ranked 300 and below than the CAA. The Southland also has 6 like the CAA. NC A&T is the 6th CAA member under 300(302). SO maybe the NEC winner is always 300 and below, not sure.

I just hope for real true tangible hope to return in the future for the program. We definitely had it from 2014-2019, and for a decent number of people here in 2020 as well.

For full disclosure, the suggested path would allow us to avoid playing Friday and set up possible favorable playmates on Saturday and Sunday. Beyond that, and I need some of Leslie Nielson's glue!!

That’s what I saw this morning. By noon, it moved to Elon by one.

Wonder if this is related to Dorsey or Collier playing?

If you win the CAA Tournament, I think your NET on Selection Sunday will be better than 300.

http://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=429466 will have statistics.

The CAA has a lot of scoreboard watching today. No team has clinched their seed.

He is. I was a good little Tribe fan and predicted we'd win more than one game against Elon in 3 years. Really thought I got a steal on those odds yet here we are

We're probably roughly as bad as 2013 Liberty (11-20 in Big South prior to tourney) or 2016 Holy Cross (10-19 Patriot).

There may not be much of a point, but hey, if something will give us 0.3% rather than 0.1%, can't hurt to root for it.

Even with two players out, we are better than Elon. Let's have a good second half and close it out.
