72-61 UTSA. UTSA has steadied the ship a bit after Rice's run. And man, just to beat the dead horse that's probably so dead you can find it in your local Staples, but we're so garbage defensively. However bad the numbers are, they're not worse than what you see with your eyes. Pera should be ashamed that he's deemed this acceptable.

That alley-oop jam will pretty well do it. 77-64.

Fair play to UTSA. Came in with energy despite their record. I chided their defensive efficiency ranking earlier, but they've legitimately looked much better than it tonight. How much of that is down to our execution, I don't know. But they've looked better defensively than we have.

Also remember this UTSA team has us beat on their home court. And we came back to win.

We owed them this one… :/

RE: MBB vs. UTSA
Rice has somehow cut the lead to 79-77. I'd love to see UTSA's last turnover because I swear the ball never touched the sideline.

Mason misses a transition layup with a chance to tie. UTSA to the line with under 30 left. Mason probably got fouled on the drive so that maybe negates the blown call in favor of us.

Rice with the ball and a chance to tie and I think Evee turns it over. Refs will review but it looked off Rice. Yeah, that should be UTSA ball with 13 seconds left. Up 3. Really good defensive hands.

The intentionally missed free throw goes up and over the backboard. Nothing going right tonight.

UTSA wins and Rice goes 0-2. Awful.

At this point in Pera’s tenure, this just can’t happen.

Unless we make a run in the conference tournament, it's a conversation we're going to need to have. I'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong, but in my mind Pera-coached teams have a clear ceiling.

Home court advantage definitely missing this year.

ELW 4796 is right on the money. UTSA has only scored 80 points 4 times this year. Against the likes of Prairie View AM, Bethune Cook and twice against Rice. KenPom 320 out of I think 358. This would be like losing to Nichols State in football. Some of these cannot be explained away. If Pera
has any tweets about James Harden before he can turn this around show him the door. You can’t live in the past anymore.

Very disappointing. We had a legitimate shot at 20 wins this season.

Wasn't his contract renewed recently? He's here for three more years.

We don't lose one senior off this team. If everyone stays, maybe the two freshmen come in and help us take the next step. I don't see any other impact players outside of our starting five.

You're right. If we won most of the home games in which we were favored, we'd be at 20 wins right now. We definitely shouldn't be losing to the worst team in the conference, not after a big road win and four days rest. So disappointing.

But it did and will again.

Utsa was 1-14 in conference.

Rice is only 13-10 vs division 1 this year, in Pera’s sixth year.

I think this team has some ability, but the real issue is the drop off after the starters....

Rice lost to a team that moved up to #309 after the game. Garbage effort. Garbage coaching. Any player with talent and eligibility should bail.
