Duke women’s basketball coach cries “ball error”
https://www.tomahawknation.com/florida-s...conference

The accusation is that in the first half of the game a “men’s ball” was used, the second half a women’s ball.

I did not know that women had their own ball.

The ACC says that there is no evidence to support this claim and the matter is closed.

My daughter played college basketball. I knew the ball was smaller but I wasn’t sure how much. This article says 1” smaller circumference.

When you are on a college team, playing/practicing everyday for hours a day with your life immersed in basketball, it is immediately obvious when there are even slight differences in balls...different brands, etc. It is hard to imagine that it wouldn't have been immediately obvious to everyone touching it that the ball was a men's or women's ball. It's pretty unbelievable that this happened.

That said, both teams used the same ball. But if you are used to practicing with one vs the other, there would be an advantage.

Agreed…
If you play a lot of ball you can tell the difference when you pick up the ball.

That was kind of the point of Duke's complaint. They did notice, and pointed it out to officials, but nothing was done about it until the second half.
