Wow! You must really hate those Monarchs!

I didn't see all of the game but what was the nature of the Morse injury? We're hanging this one on PGJMU for starting the named thread two weeks ago.
hand? foot? head?

It was a collision, and he was in obvious pain. My first thought was separation with a sprain of the ac ligaments the way he seemed in pain (this injury will make you literally see stars). He came over to the end of the bench and slammed his chair down in frustration and it bounced toward someone. He immediately apologized to the person the chair went toward, which was good to see- sportsmanship in a tough situation. He had a big bag of ice on it in second half.

Nice W overall. I was definitely hoping for one of those games where we jump out 10 early and then keep it around there until the end and win comfortably by 15+. However, I figured ODU would get back into it and they do have a scrappy team that really played well. The Monarchs have definitely improved since the start of the season and I wouldn't be surprised if they give us everything we can handle in a few weeks.

So is the full court press scrapped for the rest of the year? Maybe Byington doesn’t think he can pull it off with Sule, Strickland, and now Morse out.
The advantage of being deeper than every team has eroded.

I don’t believe Strickland is “out”…do you have some inside info?

Also, word is still out with Vado. He tried to come back and play JB the second half against ODU, so with some rest and post-game treatment he may be fine unless something was separated or torn.

Strickland has been severely limited. The wrist that was casted still gives him problems, but he also has a back issue and wears a stimulus wrap on the bench when not playing.
I think it is getting to him because he had a little spat with Byington on the bench last night after getting quickly yanked.

If he can’t play his “hair on fire” ball defense like normal due to physical problems then he probably doesn’t have a role.

Well then, Strickland isn’t “out”. He’s just limited.

Hope his back issue gets resolved so he’ll be back to his normal competitive self. He’s a glue guy.

I thought last night's game was one of JMU's best performances of the year, ranking up there with the Buffalo game. Even though JMU was outscored in the second half, I like how they played offensively with Molson effectively running the point. Molson plays at his own pace and he didn't force the issue last night, limiting turnovers. Byington has shortened the rotation, in part due to injuries, it would seem (Sule, Strickland and Morse out). Team seems more cohesive in any event and I'm seeing considerable improvement from Molson, Ihenacho and Wooden if last night was any indication. Team has now won five of six games.

With respect to Edwards, he adds value by scoring inside the paint area, but still over penetrates and over dribbles at times. He's got to look to pass more in those situations.

Byington is right to sit Strickland...he's been awful this year, probably because he isn't healthy. Can't shoot and keeps turning the ball over. I thought Ihenacho might be a lost cause too, but he's really starting to come on (playing off the ball last night). Wooden, finally, looks like he's fitting the style of Byington.

With respect to Morse, I'm with Hart. He can just as easily shoot you into a game than out of one. Given his production and limitations, he shoots too much and doesn't share the ball enough.

While I'm highlighting individual players, Offurum has been a key addition to this team. They're not where they are without him. I would probably single him out as Team MVP. And while Freidel has also been very streaky, he plays hard and within a team concept most of the time.

My initial impressions early in the game was that ODU was just awful (not having seen them since the beginning of last year), but they really came on hitting a high percentage of three point shots after the dreadful start. Noticed two four stars and two three stars on their roster. No easy outs in this league so far.

Stars get you beat.

JMU was not only the better team last night, but the more talented team.

Strongly disagree with you about Vado. The team will need him back healthy and playing PG if the Dukes are to have a legit shot of winning the SBC tourney.
