Interesting that Northwestern just announced they have hired former Rocket Christian Smith as their new DL coach, after all his success at South Dakota St. I'm sure he will make more at NU than UT could have paid, but wonder if they considered him.

Rumors are floating again that Candle is a top candidate to take the OC job at Miami, after they fired Gattis after 1 year.

With ND opening, that might give him options. One closer to Toledo if he still has ties here that need remain. Sure puts us in a bind for offerring a long term contract to anyone new and he'd still be on the piddly buy-out of the old contract (I think).

Hate to say it but we do , oline standing staight up, can't reach or cut off block, absorb far too much, not an ounce of hard nosed football. Run blocking improved a bit during season .. Finn and Gleason bailed the line out I think. While we don't have 1 great back we have 3 nice ones who gained yardage with fresh legs..... I think JC missed this one. I'm sure he thought long about it but couldn't do it. He is the boss. Help is on the way though

Some people are actually upset that their coach is considered good enough to be wanted by higher profile programs.
