The Dukes head down to Mobile Alabama for their next game against South Alabama this Thursday. Dukes are 17-5 7-3 in Conference and are coming off two disappointing losses against Ga St and CCU. USA is currently in last place in the SBC with a Conference record of 1-9. Looks like a good opportunity to get back to JMU basketball and back on the winning track.

Game is on ESPN+ at 8:00 PM . Won't be making the run to Mobile as it is way to long a trip from where we are in Orlando but will be watching and ROOTIN!!

Dukes up 14-11 at end of first quarter.

Crappy offense by both sides in the first quarter but the Dukes heated up a tad towards the end of the quarter and lead 14-11 heading to the 2nd quarter. Neither team shooting worth a d**n as of yet.

Academy award goes to #4 of South Alabama for flopping against Caroline.

Dukes up 25-20 middle of second quarter. Dukes playing with more intensity this quarter.

South Alabama #2 is killing the Dukes. Hope JMU can find an answer to her.

Only shooting something like 1-13 from 3. Ouch!!

Dukes up 33-27 at the half. JMU playing pretty well but cannot buy a 3-point shot (1-13). Kiki leading in points (9), rebounds (7) and assists (3). JMU is much better than this team - time to shake them and show them what we have.

7:33 media timeout Dukes up 33-31 haven't made a shot yet in the third quarter. Had several that were 2/3's of the way down and rattled out. Very strange. Shooting 1-15 from 3. Need to start getting some shots to fall. Getting good looks just not falling.

Timeout at 4:42 to go in the third quarter Dukes up 43-39. Caroline with a 3 and Peyton with a pair of threes. Now shooting 4-19 from 3 not great!! But better than 1-15!!

Dukes on a bit of a run at the end of the third and go into the break up by 11. Score is 54-43 heading to the 4th!!

Dukes up 54-43 at end of third quarter. Peyton got hot and has 14 points. Kiki has 17 points and 10 rebounds. Time to put this game away!!!

Dukes are going to win, but in these last few minutes they’re still playing like it’s a close game. Wondering why they’re not running more time off the clock and taking higher percentage shots instead of throwing up 3s.

Dukes win 72-54

After a slow start, Dukes stomp on South Alabama 72-54. Great halftime adjustments by the Dukes. Three Dukes in double figures. One of the better halves of basketball the Dukes have played lately.

Now they are off Statesboro, Georgia for a Saturday match up with Georgia Southern. I hope they are taking all of the second half energy with them.

I thought the South Alabama announcers were some of the best we have seen all season. Professional, accurate (never miscalled the Dukes by name) and had a lot of positive comments about the Dukes.

Great 4th Qtr. Hopefully this game gets the women’s mojo back. Kudos to Coach O for shaking up the starting lineup.
