Just not shooting well the last two games

Getting decent shots just not falling

Too much of the Dukes offense goes thought the post area and when that is not doing well the team struggles

68-60 Ga St 52 seconds to go

Yes.

This team has lost its mojo. Needs to find it quick.

RE: WBB vs Ga St 1/28/23 2:00 PM ESPN+
Very frustrating game to watch. The entire team seems to be out of sorts-just did not see a lot of energy. Rebounding-or the lack of it-was a big reason for the loss. I am not sure what is going on but I hope they can turn things around quickly.

I am not sure why Coach played such a short bench. Kobe played a few minutes, Amira was in for a minute or so and Annalicia played for a while but just cannot keep up inside.

The Georgia State announcers were almost as bad as the way JMU played. If I heard them say they were playing the Monarchs one more time I would have screamed. That was almost as frustrating as the one commentator saying “I can live with that “ when JMU would make a particular play.

We could always blame Dukeman. He hasn’t posted in a while so likely wouldn’t notice.

I get what you’re saying about the post, but that should open up cutters and outlet passes for open jumpers. You’re right, the offense is working in that sense, but we are not hitting those jumpers. And, the last few games we have faced some “large” interior players that seem to give us trouble. I like the offense running through the post, and Kozlova has proven to be a pretty good passer. And we do have a tendency all year to get lazy on the boards and not body up and box out, which is just trifling and should never happen.

The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

Moving to the SBC and better coaching hires has left me content.

Regarding Coach O, since you asked, he is amiable and a solid recruiter.

But when it comes to Xs and Os, you will notice he often gets beat the second time through the schedule.

RE: WBB vs Ga St 1/28/23 2:00 PM ESPN+
Noticed that Peyton has a huge wrap on her left hand that she injured in the Troy game. Her ring finger and pinkie are taped together and she has a large wrap around them and over the palm and thumb. Very noticeable from where we were sitting tonight. While not on her shooting hand I have to think it has affected her shooting the last two games which has been very un Peyton like.

On the drive down I75 after the game I got to thinking about Georgia States new arena. While wandering around I had a feeling that something just was not right. Figured it out finally. Bothe the Ga St arena and the AUBC have a complete concourse around the seating bowl which is good for walking beofre the game and at half time. Many fans do that. The difference is that at the AUBC the ceiling in the concourse is all finished and nice and complete. In the Ga St arena it is completely open and you can see all the HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression piping and electrical and media wiring runs. Plus all the structural steel and concrete for the upper bowl. Just looks very unfinished when compared to the AUBC. Still a nice arena and probably much better that what it replaced (have no idea what that was like) but the AUBC is much nicer in my opinion.

Well lets hope that a couple of days of practice and rest will get the Dukes back on a winning streak.

Brian

Objective observers of Lefty will recognize that same trend with his tenure at JMU.

Most definitely. Lefty’s teams almost always had two or three guys better than the current roster, but without much to show for it.

RE: WBB vs Ga St 1/28/23 2:00 PM ESPN+
Not sure if Shady is pissed at my statement about Driesell's performances when we'd play conference teams a 2nd time at the back end of the season. I was quoted though, so I will defend my statement.

Someone mentioned teams better figuring out O'Regan's schemes the second go round during conference play. I thought it was an interesting observation that I wanted to monitor. And Lefty's teams jumped out at me as having that trait.

We had 5 years in a row under Lefty where we were definitely relevant in the college basketball world. The 1989-90 season through the 1993-94 season. We won 20, 19, 21, 21 and 20 games during that stretch.
In each of those seasons though, we did not fare as well in the 2nd half of our conference schedule vs our record in the 1st half of conference play. Same teams, and usually close to the same order in playing them.
1989-90: 6-1/ 5-2
1990-91: 7-0/ 5-2
1991-92: 7-0/ 5-2
1992-93: 7-0/ 4-3
1993-94: 6-1/ 4-3

Notice a trend?

All that said, hoping Peyton's hand/wrist is feeling ok, Kozlova is healing up and we come out breathing fire for the second half of the conference slate.
