“Smart” systems to conserve energy
Massachusetts school can’t turn off the lights because of a software glitch. They have been on for a year! Too bad they don’t have a light switch. They have been trying to turn off breakers etc, but they probably have things besides the lights that need to be on. What a cluster.

I’m not anti tech, and glitches happen no matter how dumb or smart a system may be, but this is probably costing them more than they ever hoped to save in electricity by installing the smart system in the first place.

Seems kind of odd. We have smart switches on most of our lights in the house, but they still have a physical switch to turn the light off or on if you want to.

I wondered about that too. But I think this school was built new with this tech built into it and is part of a whole system these suckers got suckered into. Other smart switches probably work a little more independently.

I heard this school had The Clapper previously, but the crowds at the basketball games started complaining about the headaches they were getting frome the strobe light effect that occurred after a big win 03-wink

It's the same with cars and appliances. All the bells and whistles just mean more schit that breaks.
