Quote:Twitter Files: Big Pharma Pushed Social Media Vax Policy
Quote:The pharmaceutical industry lobbied social media to restrict activists calling for low-cost generic COVID-19 vaccines and even funded the effort, journalist Lee Fang reported Monday in the latest installment of the Twitter Files.
"The push included direct pressure from Pfizer partner BioNTech to censor activists," Fang wrote in a Twitter thread.
Early in the pandemic, a push was made to make sure all people would be able to get vaccinated, so an international partnership was established to share ideas, technology and new medicines, Fang noted.
Quote:"But global drug giants saw the crisis as an opportunity for unprecedented profit," he writes. "Behind closed doors, pharma launched a massive lobbying blitz to crush any effort to share patents/IP for new covid-related medicine, including therapeutics and vaccines."

Unless and until the GOP is ready/willing/able to conduct mail-in ballot harvesting like the Democrats, I agree. Never mind if Joe Biden runs again — the Democrats could nominate *Hunter* Biden, and he would still become #47 (“winning” the same states, by the same margins, that Joe “won” in 2020), without a nationwide ballot-harvesting operation on an industrial-scale by the GOP.
So, the obvious question is: having been burned by the ballot-harvesting stove in 2020 and again in 2022, will the GOP be ready for ’24? Skepticism is fully warranted, and I guess the honest truth is I’ll believe it when I see it. But at least here in Georgia, I see some very encouraging signs that Team Red will leave nothing to chance. And this is not being done out of any loyalty to Trump or DeSantis — the Georgia GOP’ers now realize if they don’t get serious about this sh¡t that they themselves will lose their power. Survival and self-interest are always the most powerful motivators, ja?
But “encouraging signs” are cheap, of course. We won’t really know the answer to this until November 6, 2024, and maybe for several days after that.

With regard to Donald flaming out, I don't think that Ron DeSantis needs to say a word between now and late autumn. Donald is in the process of imploding all on his own. The only thing that will keep him front and center in everyone's attention is the b.s. Mar-a-Lago investigation, raid and (non)prosecution. But even that doesn't have an upside for a Trump candidacy, and probably won't be enough to keep him in the mix past the early primaries/caucuses in 2024. He is finished.
[Disclaimer (for bullet and others): I have as bad a track record as anyone underestimating Donald Trump. There is a high possibility that I am doing it again. But I don't think so. Not this time.]

For once I agree. Trump has a massive upside policy wise, but his downside has become just too great.

yet, some will tell you that #policyLivesMatter ... my eyeballs see (have seen) it playing out differently ... VA is the exception to the rule with Youngkin ... the rest got roasted in the 'critical' pseudo-blue states in '20/'22....
NG makes a valid point above (fight fire with fire in the ballot harvesting dep't) ... however, I don't see the numbers ever working out in the pubs' 'f(L)avor'...
for the future of this country and our offspring, I can only hope I'm (we're) wrong...

That's been my view for 2 years. I fear however that he is not going away quietly.

If Trump were just a bit younger — even by just 5 years would make a huge difference, imho. But at his age I think it’s going to be a very heavy lift.
