100% Guaranteed — in the next few years, as FBS transitions into an overtly professional model. After a period of time, athletes will get used to the idea that players are paid differently, just like in the NFL/NBA. But that will take some time.

Just wait until people realize the pay gap between male and female athletes. Get the popcorn ready.

Who defines males and females?

RE: NIL for C-USA teams
While I dont believe Liberty holds much or any advantage in the NIL the one big advantage will be. Direct donations to most G5 schools should start to decrease and Liberty is not depended on those donations like most everyone else.

Money that use to go to the school will now (soon) go to benefit schools NIL fund which is not run by the schools. For most fans of a G5 school the amount we fans give is small and as fans most wants a winner and if they had to make a choice on their money affecting winning....

it looks to me like the NIL would have a larger impact on holding on to the best players.

So will their donations to the school stay the same or will we start to see those numbers lowered and a lot. if not all of that money going to the NIL program? At Western basketball tickets and football (but lower) requires a donation level compared to where your seat is. It's that way at all or most schools but some are a lot higher than others. Side line tickets for basketball (not court level those are $2500 a ticket) cost the price of ticket plus $550 TO $850 HAF PER SEAT DONATION. Same type of seat in football is $250 donation for each seat.

At this point I dont see many people giving up those seats just to help fund a NIL program. But a lot of people donation beyond that to HAF (Hilltopper Athletic Fund) and I can see that dropping at some point in the near future and fans moving that money into the NIL fund because that is directly benefitting basketball and football. The donation to HAF is not for any one sport.

In the future I can see that being a problem for the school. As for the NIL for the most part it will depend on local companies that are already supporting the school because today those are the ones hiring these kids to do whatever they are required to get that NIL deal. I dont know much about Liberty on this front (how they are supported locally) but I do know Western has always had the support of local small and some large businesses.

Along with one home grown multi billion dollar company, Houchens Industries, who bought naming rights to the football stadium. Always been a very big supporter of Western basketball. Russell Athletic Brands, headquartered in Bowling Green, and while not started there is is now considered home grown to BG. They also are a big supporter of Western. You also have Fruit of the Loom headquartered in Bowling Green since 2002. Dont know if they are a big supporter or not.

At some point in the near future unless the rules for NIL change its going to be important to have those local, small, large and huge companies willing to use sport athletes in the NIL programs. That is the schools that gain an advantage and not just how many students a school has across the country. Its more important....locally.

Maybe QBs should tip out their linemen when they don't get sacked. No reason why players with large NIL deals can't incentivize their teammates to bridge that contention. They just won't think of that because, as you said, NIL breeds me-first people.

Do head coaches give part of their salary to asst coaches, trainers or any other staff members?

Administrations and coaches started this with their greed, the players are just following along.

Actually quite a few of them do. Many coaches will take a smaller starting salary in order to have more money for their asst. coaches etc. They know it's a necessary step to bring in quality assistants if they want to win and win quickly. Both Herman and Kiffin did this at FAU.

Just saw U of FL 5 star QB recruit asked to be released from his national letter of intent as his $13 million NIL deal fell through due to a lack of funding. I would have thought those letters of intent were contractually binding. Gators might be in a bind.

New Mexico NIL bill would allow schools to arrange compensation

Quote:On Wednesday, the New Mexico Senate introduced Senate Bill 219, which is titled “College Student Athlete Endorsements.” If passed, the bill would amend the current state law by removing the prohibition that prevents colleges and universities from arranging third-party compensation for the use of an athlete’s name, image and likeness. The bill would also remove the prohibition of NIL deals being used as inducements to recruit prospective athletes.

Rep. Brian Baca, Sen. Mark Moores and Sen. Antonio Maestas sponsored the bill. Baca and Moores are Republicans, while Maestas is a Democrat. Baca and Maestas are the primary sponsors, while Moores is a cosponsor.

New Mexico Senate Bill 219 was sent to the Senate Education Committee.

Additionally, the bill removes prohibitions regarding college athletes’ ability to sign with professional representation. If the bill is passed, professional representation could be affiliated with an institution or its partners.

The bill would remove a clause in the state law that states, “An entity or individual that represents a post-secondary education institution or has represented that post-secondary educational institution in the previous four years shall not represent a student athlete who is attending that post-secondary educational institution in any business agreement.”

New Mexico and New Mexico State are the two NCAA Division I institutions in the state.

States amend NIL legislation
There are 30 states, plus the District of Columbia, where lawmakers have passed NIL legislation or signed an executive order. While many legislators rushed to pass a state law prior to the start of the NCAA’s NIL era on July 1, 2021, lawmakers in many of those same states have since amended, repealed or suspended their respective law.

In 2022, Alabama lawmakers repealed their state law, while those in South Carolina suspended theirs.

Legislators in states such as Illinois, Louisiana and Tennessee amended their respective state laws to provide institutions or NIL collectives with more freedom.

Lawmakers in New Mexico previously passed Senate Bill 94.

In the first year of the NCAA’s NIL era, the state laws that were enacted provided few enforcement mechanisms. On3 was unable to find any reported violations or official inquiries into potential violations.

Notable leaders in college athletics have asked for federal NIL legislation. Those figures include Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren and SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey.

With former Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker set to succeed NCAA President Mark Emmert, the NCAA could try to utilize Baker’s political experience to successfully lobby to Congress the need for federal legislation.

Last I heard, UNT's collective had around $1.3million in the bank. We got to get those numbers up.

NM State Strengthens Relationship with Teamworks, Adds INFLCR Exchange

Quote:LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State Athletics has officially joined the list of Teamworks' Elite partners, the two organizations announced Thursday. The Aggies have amplified their commitment to operational excellence and innovation by adding multiple technology solutions within Teamworks' Operating System for Sports.

Last summer, Teamworks announced their Elite package, a bundled offering of solutions within their product suite, building on the base operational product - Teamworks Hub. Additional offerings include Teamworks Academics, the complete solution for student-athlete academic success and Notemeal, the premier sports nutrition platform for athletes.

This new enterprise offers organizations with a platform for seamless communication between student-athletes, coaches, administration and athletics staff members. With the addition of Teamworks Elite, NM State student-athletes will also be granted the opportunity to utilize a partnership with INFLCR to assist with NIL opportunities. INFLCR (pronounced influencer) is currently the leading content and compliance software platform for elite athletics.

Within the partnership, INFLCR will also launch its New Mexico State Local Exchange to provide a simplified registry designed for businesses, donors, alumni and any others interested in providing NIL deals directly to NM State student-athletes. Those who would like to learn more about the New Mexico State Exchange may visit this link.

"This partnership provides us the opportunity to streamline solutions for communication and student-athlete support while engaging the community in meaningful ways," stated NM State Senior Associate AD of Sports Administration Dr. Amber Burdge. "We feel this partnership best sets up our students to take advantage of NIL opportunities and are excited about our future with the Teamworks product offerings through our Elite package."

"We are proud to partner with the Aggies Athletic Department to support their vision of maximizing NIL opportunities for their student-athletes and driving operational excellence with the full Elite package," said INFLCR founder Jim Cavale. "The launch of the New Mexico State Exchange will empower student-athletes to monetize their brands with NIL partnerships on a fee-free platform."
