Jelly the leading scoring in the NCAA but one of the least composed and easily rattled basketball players I’ve ever seen.

Eric Gaines, capable of highlight plays but has the basketball IQ of a middle schooler.

AK talks about the bartow standard, but is complicit in his teams lack of effort and fundamentals.

Nice words. But what is AK doing to fix it or adjust in game? As sloppy as our team has been, the coaching and decision making has been just as sloppy at the top. Put your money where your mouth is coach.

This was the most embarrassing game I’ve ever watched as a fan of UAB basketball - 20 years. This team has been a joke. This has been the most disappointing UAB basketball team I’ve ever seen, and I dutifully suffered through years of Mike Davis choking in the CUSA tournament and thinking he was better than UAB, the mediocre and disappointing Haase years, the abysmal Ehsan years. I don’t know about Gene Bartow because I was in school when Mike Anderson was coaching, but I know he’d be ashamed of this team.

You need to do something coach. Quit letting this team get High on all their Instagram highlight videos and retweets. Quit letting the team play like it’s a pick up game at the church gym. Have some pride and right the ship.

I’m so incredibly disappointed in this team. Uab athletics has been in a downward spiral since bill Clark left under weird circumstances. Two of the supposed best teams on paper for both of our biggest sports have been jokes.

I’m checking out for a while bc I’m tired of getting so upset by these losses when the team is obviously checked out.

Idk if there is anything that can be done for this year. This team is constructed as it is and we just have to ride it out with them and hope they figure out how to play together instead of as five individuals.

I think we have some players that don't gel with other players and that they would not gel with anyone with their attitudes. All these players come from the transfer portal and they may have left their previous school for the same reasons. Personally I had rather see a team that I want my 7th grade team to play like rather than a team I don't want my kids to watch with all the bad attitudes. I can handle losing if you play hard and play as a team, but to have players that constantly get technicals and make selfish mistakes (same in football), I don't want to support a team like that.

In our last 3 games, excluding UTSA - one of the worst teams in D1 who we played at home - Jelly is averaging 17 points on 28.8% shooting from the floor overall, 22.6% from three, 1.7 rbs, 3.33 assists, and 5 turnovers. He's scored a total of 51 points on 52 shot attempts.

This obviously doesn't even take into account his non-existent defense.

If he's not scoring, he doesn't rebound, doesn't play defense, doesn't efficiently find teammates for baskets (poor A:T ratio). What does he bring to the team is he is imploding game after game and literally not doing the only thing he's good at on the court?

AK has to have a heart to heart with Jelly. I still say he is the best player I've seen play at UAB. He is also one of the least composed and one-dimensional. Send a message. Do whatever you can. Whatever instagram, barstool, Marshall Madness, highlight reel driven style of play you have been banking on has been a disaster and it is sinking our team.

I might look the other way if said players were actually good.

Why does Buffen think he is good enough to constantly yell, bark, and chirp at the other team? He's a third rate Demario Eddins with none of the accolades.

But yes, overall, I think a lot the players on this "team" are just selfish individuals. Hard to coalesce those type of guys into winning team.

I shudder to think what next week's practices would have looked like if a Mike Anderson team had ever played the way we have our last two.

I miss those days. They were the glory days of UAB basketball, outside of the GB days.

I've never seen basketball teams play as hard as those teams did. From the top of the roster to the bottom they were tenacious. They lost games, but they never lost because of the BS this year's team is putting out.

AK talks a lot about the GB standard, but it's been nothing but talk so far.

I keep forgetting we should be 2-3 in conference, as that UTEP win we pulled out of our rump. Just Bartow Arena started to build a respectable crowd, and excite casual fans with the dramatic UTEP win... we'll be back to the typical 2,800 Wednesday night. It might even be worse than that given the 8pm tip against a team similar to ours.
