Personally I very the portal as weakening teams outside of the bluebloods in the P5 because they lose a lot of depth that use to win them games. On the other side, it allows G5 schools to rebuild in one, maybe two season instead of three.

Some of us will lose some top talent from time to time but the trade off you are replacing a lot of Sr's with players that had 1, 2 or 3, some 4, in a system with some of the top developmental coaches in the game of football. While I'm not a fan of recruiting ranking as a predictor of who wins in CUSA or the G5....none of us is getting the top kids and at some point those ratings become meaningless. But for the most part the kids you are getting out of the portal are the same type of recruiting ratings....some of you would brag about as giving you the top rated class.

It allows our teams to build up 2nd that have college football ready bodies instead of freshmen or Sophomores. It will also build up the FCS because a lot of kids will have to go that route because schools using a large % of scholarships on transfers instead of freshmen. So I predict the G5 will start seeing a lot of our star players coming from the FCS....

Just as most of us can't compete with not even the middle of the pack P5 school when it comes to NIL deals. The FCS can not compete with most G5s and while there is a big difference in a overall team in talent when it comes to G5 vs FCS......there are elite skill players in the fcs that will be picked up by G5 schools. Add those to the build up in depth and talent you are getting from the portal and you can win big.

The key is consistently when it comes to systems ran and knowing what you want to run and knowing the players it takes to run that system......those are going to be the winners in this because you can reach into the P5 to find the bodies that are already ready and sometimes very talented players. Also players with a ton of actual playing experience from the FCS

G5 is not the lowest on the food chain just the lowest in the FBS and as Western did with Sharp in basketball and Reed in football....we can put big enough NIL deals to get players to stay that actually like to play for that school
