The 3 seed is a tough draw. We will play 6 seed Samford in the first round (1-1 in regular season) and then almost certainly UTC in the second round (0-2 in regular season). If we were to win those games, it will set up a difficult matchup with either UNCG (1-1 in regular season), Mercer (1-1 in regular season), or the number 1 seed Wofford, who ETSU blew out in both of the two regular season matchups and will be motivated to revenge those losses. Will be exciting to see how this plays out.

Hopefully they can focus on Samford and just go from there. Going 3-0 is of course the ultimate goal, but if nothing else, to keep the possibility of a consolation bid ti the WNIT as an option, getting at least 1 win would help their case for a possible at-large bid.

Sadly.........................Chatt is thoroughly throttling the Buccettes (wasn't that the original name, before "Lady Bucs"?) early in the third quarter, with a 21-point lead. They held ETSU to 2 (*TWO*) pts. in the second quarter. Buccettes shooting a miserable 26%. ETSU led 14-13 after 1.

update: now 24-pt. lead, and ETSU is being outscored, since the end of the 1st quarter, 30-5. 04-jawdrop

[edit: final 69-40 as ETSU hits a 3-pt. shot right before buzzer.]

The question I have now is if the 23 wins are enough to get a WNIT bid? I would think so but do not know. I hope they get a bid.

Disappointed in outcome but liked the never give up attitude. The announcers commented on how the bench was still acting as one in their support of each other. Even with the score so lopsided. Kudos to Coach Brown for taking a dumpster fire and getting these young women to believe in her and achieve what they have. Do hope they are rewarded with more post season for their efforts.

The last time ETSU was in the WNIT in 2018 after finishing 2nd in the conference and getting the auto bid, UTC managed to get an at-large bid, and they had less then 20 wins overall that season. That was also before the women's NCAA Tournament copied the men's and went from 64 to 68 teams

Depending on how other teams throughout the country do, there's no firm guarantee of a WNIT at-large bid, but going on recent history, it's not impossible.
