What’s interesting to me is it right now somehow USM pulls this off(which is highly highly doubtful) then it wouldn’t be anything but if this took place next year when Rice is in the AAC it would be considered a major major upset for a Sunbelt team to beat an AAC team. That’s the power of the conference. Markets and academics matter.

I know the people who matter only care about it. That’s why schools like Rice and Tulane are far above the pecking order to schools like USM and Troy. Tv executives and athletic powerbrokers don’t care about wins or losses, they care about the sizzling markets and the millions of dollars we bring in. And if you don’t think that matters to recruits too then you are delusional.
