Jfc App, how did y'all blow that loss? That's gut wrenching. All you gotta do is catch the ball and get fouled. Instead you throw the ball out of bounds. They get the inbounds pass and hit a buzzer beater. Unreal.

Auburn's defense is absolutely suffocating. Everyone is athletic. Every passing lane well protected. Close out any hole to the rim quickly. Very active hands and stingy press defense. I think Auburn may be the best team we'll play all year.

You guys are doing good though. Without all the fouls, they'd be losing by 10.

Unfortunately all too real for those of us who have suffered through App Basketball. Chin up however, we’re making strides towards respectability.

That loss to Wake Forest ripped a lot of Mountaineer hearts out.

I guess App State felt what Troy fans felt on that Hail Mary... except it happened in basketball.

Also felt similar to 2017 when we had Wake dead to rights in football. We jumped offsides on a punt late in the 4th and they proceeded to score the go ahead touchdown. We then drive down the field only to have the game winning FG blocked. In the last month we’ve missed a chip shot FG at GS
and blown a 30-7 lead against Charlotte in basketball. Starting to expect the worst.

Cajuns head to McNeese tomorrow. They aren't as bad as Lamar, but they aren't that much better. Still, playing in Lake Charles isn't easy as a rule.

Cajuns can't be caught looking ahead to next Wednesday's game against Texas.

Have to say that I am very pleased with the outcome so far this season. It is early though, lol. Gotta wonder how many Cajun fans will be happy if Marlin pulls out a great season.

The answer is 99%. Regardless of how fans feel about their coach, they want success. Now there's the 1% who actively root for the team to lose so they'll change coaches. I don't respect anyone who would root against the success of our student-athletes (which is what they're doing, though they won't admit it.)

But that's just a select few.

Tonight I saw my Cajuns in person for the first time this season at McNeese State. We have to get better on defense if we want to compete with the top dogs in the conference. It's as simple as that.

I’m rooting for the overall health of the basketball program. Even you know that we need turnover in the HC position. Apathy has set in and Marlin will never get the fans back. This is a damn good basketball team, especially under his tenure.

But, Marlin’s time as HC should be over. We play in a morgue when we only draw 1500 actual people to a game. Don’t give me the bull**** that basketball is dead in the south. This town supports people who embrace the culture. Personify the region and sells the product on the floor as if it were an event every night.

Baghdad Bob ain’t it.

I'll say it again. College basketball, at the mid major level, is dead in the South. Go over attendance figures around the country and prove me wrong.
For folks in the deep south, college basketball doesn't begin until football is over....which is now in mid-January.

You want a coaching change. That's fine. But don't think suddenly we're going to start drawing what ODU and Marshall draw.

Not happening.

Oh, and lest you wonder where I stand with our coaches situation. I support our coaches. In all sports. And, I will continue to support them until either they tell me they're no longer the coach or the administration tells me same.

Needed few days to digest the unfortunate loss at Auburn. While shorthanded on key players with the flu and injury, GSU competed with #19 Auburn in a hostile arena. Love the hustle from the walk-on who saw big chunks of minutes. Went back and forth within 2 possessions for nearly 40mins. I'm okay with this.

Positives
1) GSU outrebounding Auburn was a positive, a team I was absolutely concerned about being mismatched vs their size, length, and height. Hudson plays bigger than his 6'10 230lbs frame, shows he can play either at four or five positions.
2) Odom and Tucker are showing they're as athletic as any high-major guards out there to create their own shots.

Negatives
1) Outside shooting has to improve. We have no pure shooters. I expect us to average ~30% 3s all season.
2) Too much fouling. Very telling of an inexperienced team. They have to learn the difference between good fouls vs bad fouls.

GSU will be a team relying on great athleticism and finding mismatches. We want to make games ugly and low scoring, using full 30s and grind out each possession. With exceptions to the opponents with excellent 3 point shooters, I think we'll keep most games in 60s win, lose, or draw.

So the "fans" that are not showing up at games because Bob is the coach with a fun to watch, winning team, will show up for the next guy? We go from 1500 to 5k with a new coach? That sounds dumb just saying it in my head and some of the RPers say it out loud. Just support the team and the university. Or don't, but damn some of you sound utterly ridiculous.

Had a solid chunk of this game on my phone at the gym so got to halfway listen a lot and watch in 1:30 spurts between sets lol. Believe this was the first I've watched of GSU this year, played a very competitive game against a top 25 team on the road. The commentators touched on the lack of three point shooting ability on both sides as well, really felt like some better shooting from outside could've been the difference maker.

No SBC hoops action tonight, but a couple pretty attractive matchups tomorrow for TXST and Marshall.

3 fun teams to watch since 2005, So yes!

Also, Marlin has a season where we drew between 5-8k per game over a 6 or 7 game stretch. So don’t give me this, basketball is dead excuse. It’s a weak excuse for a coaching staff who is as exciting as a slug.

The administration allowed basketball to die…it’s not the fans fault, the university doesn’t have high standards for men’s basketball. Because if we did we would’ve had a coaching change years back.
